First consultant appointment

Hi ladies,

I'm sure this thread has been done a million times! But We have our first appt with the consultant on Wednesday and I'm getting a bit nervous! I'm just wondering what happens, and what should I expect from it!

I've set my expectations very low, but I'm terrified I'm just going to be laughed out the office!

Aww hun, they won't laugh at you! I remember being sooo nervous before my first FS appointment but left feeling like a weight had been lifted.

In my first FS appointment, i was first weighed by a nurse and then went in to meet the FS with hubby. Our FS was lovely. He took a history from both of us...how long we've been trying, periods frequency, etc. He also booked hubby in for a sperm analysis and gave me 6 months worth of Clomid. He booked me in for bloods to see whether i ovulate and also for a hsg scan. It felt like a very productive meeting (excuse the pun )

At my 1st FS appointment, we had to provide a full history of trying to conceive, if either of us have had any children before or abortions because it does affect the success rate of ICSI. Also had bloods taken for antennal tests, bloods for hormone tests, bloods for STD, Diabetes, HIV, all other levels. Husband had to I've a sperm sample for analysis.

FS then explained all the options to us such as IUI, IVF, ICSI. How PCOS would affect my chances. I was then told to come back on a certain date to collect my medication and the nurse would assist me in injection my first dosage. It was very informative for us. Wishing you all the best!

Let us know how you get on my husbands doing one last semen sample on 4th January then we are being referred, His last sample showed less than 5% normal sperm.

How long has it taken to get your appointment, i have a high bmi so i need to loose a little weight first and it would be nice to know how long it took.

Im dreading going because of my Bmi as i know they will turn me away and tell me to go back when im thin. My doctors told me its a minor detail and not to get to hung up on it.
