First Dance?

Is everyone doing it?
The reason i ask it because me and OH are not into dancing as such and OH would be standing on me feet/dress etc And i know for a fact that we would be soooo embarresed doing it

Is it bad not to do it? x

All he would have to do is shuffle in a circle i guess maybe you should get him to do some practising with you.

also having a couple of glasses of champers should help him to feel a bit more at ease, as long as its is only a couple or so lol

It is really up to you though, if you/he really wouldnt feel comfortable having a first dance, its not really compulsory

hi,

i got married in nov 09 and we were both nervous doing the 1st dance.

we just did the turn in a circle thing and yes DH did stand on my dress-before we were even on the dance floor!!!

we were embarressed doing it but it was worth it,we got to spend a few minutes together alone without having to talk to anyone else!! and now when i hear 'our' song on the radio etc i feel really happy cos its special to just the two of us ( soppy i know lol)

I don't think we are going to do it. I would be sooooo embarrassed. Although both my mum and bridesmaid were nagging me about it yesterday.

It's totally up to you. My first dance was a hoot, dh can't dance and just sort of swayed me about, and we made sure we got the DJ to quickly introduce the best man and MOH to the dancefloor followed by my mum and fil, dad and mil etc once the photo opp had passed. We have one pic of the first dance and we're both in stitches.

I agree, you do what ever the two of you want to do. It's your big day adn totally your rules.

We are doing ours before the meal! Might confuse some people, but we are going to be announced and then come in and dance. Then I'm dancing with my dad.

We did a first dance and neither of us can dance at all! I stood on his feet (I wore no shoes, so not too traditional there either!) and we shuffled around.
It was rather embarrassing with EVERYONE looking on (although to be honest you're almost used to it after a full day of being the centre of attention!), and the DJ forgot to invite everyone else to the floor so it was basically the entire track (Flying Over Busstops by Athlete) of us shuffling in a circle but it was SO worth it because he sung it into my ear, my arms were round his neck, and those moments will last a lifetime. Like minnie said, it's so nice to have 'your song'.

BUT one of my best friends had a totally different thing at their wedding. Friends of the groom's were quite avid salsa dancers, and turned salsa instructors for the first part of the evening. They got everyone to pair up and practice, and then for the first twenty seconds of 'Livin' La Vida Loca' the happy couple took the floor, then everyone joined in. It was SO them and so much fun, too

But yeah, most importantly remember it is YOUR day, don't let anyone tell you what to do!
