I am in the U.S. but I will tell you about my first appointment which was last week. I'd been to my regular OB/Gyn and she did blood work on CD2 because my cycles are very irregular. I'm 38, a bit overweight, irregular cycles and diabetic. Ugh. My bloodwork came back saying that I have low ovarian reserve so she recommended a fertility specialist ASAP.

Had my first appointment and they reviewed the results of my recent bloodwork. They also did an abdominal, pelvic and vaginal ultrasound. Oh, I also had an ovarian cyst that was found at last OB/Gyn appt. They remeasured that cyst to check for growth and it hadn't grown. She prescribed Provera to kick start my cycle as I was on day 49 by then. When I finish that, I should have a period, then I will start Clomid 50mg for cycle days 5-9. My husband has never had a SA so she requested him to come in and do that. Sadly, he's been working on a big project and can't take time off to do that this week so we are going to try to take care of that next weekend. I really suspect that all the issues are in my body though.

I'm guessing that with your DH having low sperm count they will put you on Clomid and possibly some injections for a couple of cycles but if that doesn't work, I'll be they encourage you to try IUI to have the best chances possible.

Baby dust to you!!

On my first appointment I met with the Dr in his office (not exam room) and we talked about my history and concerns. He then sent me to the exam room and had his assistant do a vaginal ultrasound to look for any abnormalities (non seen). He then scheduled me for CD 3 bloodwork and a saline sonohysterogram for the following month.

After the SSH, they found a spot in my uterus so he scheduled me for a Hysteroscopy the next month which turned into a D&C and uterine polyp removal. Then I was put on clomid. I also O on my own, so I don't know how it will help much.

Hi Barbs, I'm glad they are offering you some help. By the time I saw a consultant my doctor had also done bloods and my OHs sperm test (normal) here is my story;

Appointment 1: Info gathering, internal scan, consultant decision to do day 3 and 21 bloods again
Appointment 2: blood results are fine, booked in for a HSG dye test
Appointment 3: dye test normal, prescribed 3 months clomid
Appointment 4: good response to clomid, ovulation normal booked in for a laparoscopy with the decision from consultant that if nothing found next action would be IVF
Before the lap or 5th appointment I got my BFP

Good luck xx
