First month checking CM advice needed!

So this is my first month attempting to chart my CM and im not sure if I'm doing it right even though I've re read FF's lesson on charting your CM. When is the best time to check (before or after urination)? How do you know it is it?

From what I've read on other sites it's best to check it after a shower. Either squat or prop one foot up on the tub or toilet so you can reach it. Be sure and keep your nails trim and clean. I've also read on a site (tmi) you can check after a bowel movement. Whenever/however you decide to check always check at the same time and same position. Keep in mind your CP is always changing and can vary from position to position and morning to night. HTH

I just check my cm with my finger when I use the bathroom...before I pee of course.

I don't usually get anything on my finger when I do an internal check, so external checking gives me a better idea of what cm I have.
