First NHS fertility appointment

Hello,

I had my first appointment booked for July 21st but the hospital have just called to offer me a cancellation for tomorrow!! I accepted it, but am now panicking a bit (a lot!) as I have not prepared myself for it yet !!

The letter says that both me and my partner have to attend, but as we're both female will our donor have to attend also? I wouldn't have thought so, but when I just spoke to the woman who called from appointments, she mentioned having the results of the semen analysis back,....and we haven't had one of those done because we haven't tried yet. I just know I'm not ovulating and my GP said they could possibly help by providing clomid.

Can anyone advise what happened in their first appointment? I've already had day 2 and day 21 bloods taken, (and then day 35 just to check still no O) and a transvaginal scan to check for PCOS (showed no cysts but a slightly enlarged right ovary).

Hey,

Just wanted to say good luck for tomorrow!

Not sure what to suggest re tomorrow but if you will be the one carrying & the donor is a friend, you should both get tested to make sure all is ok before you move to the next step? Will you try AI or go straight to IUI? my friend is married & they are both using an anonymous donor but they have to pay.

Hi Hun,
Wanted to say good luck for tomorrow. I had my first appt last week and I was really nervous too but it was fine.
We went over old ground, he asked all the same questions that my GP had re my cycles etc and then outlined what could happen next. We have talked about HSG and I am now waiting for the appt.
It really was quite relaxed and there is nothing to worry about xx

I had an internal scan at my first appt and we both had some bloods taken. Just make sure you take a pen and paper with you and jot down things they tell you - you wont remember any of it when you walk out of there - and I speak from experience!

Hey im waiting for my first appintment to come through... needless to say im a nervous wreck! but cannot wait - any advice on what happens etc would be really appreciated xx
