I was out having tea tonight with the OH and i had pains which i thought were indigestion (top of bump), but niggling that something wasnt right. After a couple of mins of being quite uncomfortable i had to stop eating, i felt really weird and ill and started getting period cramps.

Oh asked what was wrong, and i just told him i didnt feel too good. Came on all of a sudden, first i just felt a bit odd, then i started flushing and sweating. I felt like i was tipsy, everything seemed a little dizzy, OH spotted this and went to the bar to get me cold drink.

Whilst he was gone, the pain from the top of my bump crept all around my bump (including my back, ouch!), tummy went tight and it was a mixture of dull period ache and a bit of pain (made me cling on to the table!!). Lasted about 10-15 seconds, then settled down.

Ive had tightenings before, but not like that, that one was actually quite painful! Ive noticed past few days period like cramps every now and then, when i had nothing before, and also did quite alot of walking today which is a first for me as ive been quite lazy recently, so was just wondering if all the movement triggered this tonight?

So was this an actual BH or what? My first and dont know what to expect. Had dull but painful lower backache since which has been worse than usual, and bump has been really tight - felt funny all night really :nope:

Im 35 weeks today x

I had some contractions like that with my first, too. They were sporadic and isolated for me, though... I'd get 1 or 2 per day, starting at around 35 or 36 weeks.

But if you're getting back pain and aren't feeling quite right, its probably best to give your midwife/doctor a call and see what they think. You're still a little early and they probably don't want you going into labor just yet. :)

Hope you get to feeling better and all is OK! :flower:

The tightenings sound to me like BH, but the period pains and backache don't - though everyone is different! It could be that you overdid it a bit today, but I would call and let the MW know - especially if it keeps up! xx

I'm not as far along as you yet, but at my childbirth class I was told that period type pains could start happening in the month leading up to birth...which is right where you are at. (Every once in awhile I get a a very mild period type pain but I've been getting that off and on all pregnancy and it's not like proper period cramp.)

Thank you for the replies ladies.
I'm still in bed today, not really feeling too good. Very tired and achey. I will see how rest of today goes then give m/w a call later on if I'm not feeling better. Had a night crammed ful of the strangest dreams last night as well :/ and still feeling a bit crampy!

I had almost the same experience last night, ihave had BHs on and off for awhile but had a reallt strong contraction last night, just the one, lasted awhile, i didnt feel sick or anything (i was laying down though) but was so intense i was thinking of calling my husband (who was downstairs) as i thought, thats it, im in labour (im having twins so could come early), but was so intense i couldnt talk if i wanted to, let alone shout.

Then it went and i was fine lol!

I think its fairly normal, obviously if you have more than def call your MW, period type pains are fairly normal, your body is just preparing, i remember having the same experince about 35 weeks with my first, i was convinced he would come early but infact i went overdue. I even went in to be monitored for contractions at one point as my period pains were so bad. But no contractions lol!

If your worried though you should speak to your MW. Good luck hun x

Just rang m/w and told her, she told me things are just progressing and thinks that I just over did it yesterday explained my body needs time to recover so having a rest day today.

Scary when you get near the end, you prepare for months for the start of things to happen but the first little sign and you freak out lol!

hehe glad everything's ok :D i've started getting some strong period type pains now & again, makes me very excited!
