Hello Ladies, I have my first appointment tomorrow at the hospital with the fertility nurse after being referred by my Dr. Apparently we have to have the first appointment with the nurse and then an appointment with the consultant 12 weeks later. Please can anyone let me know what to expect tomorrow. I think I may have to have an internal and apart from a smear I have never had this before - does it hurt, what are they looking for and what will it involve? Thanks for your help girls xx

I'm not sure about the nurse.

My first appointment I saw the FS we both had bloods taken, then the fs requested appointments for me to have a HSG, DH to give a sample and then when we where due to see him again he booked an internal ultra sound for just before we saw him.

I hope this helps xx

the internal is basically just a smear so nothing to worry about xxx

My first appointment was with the FS not a nurse. She did an internal on me which was a probe type thing inserted into vagina to look at the lining of the uterus - she puts a condom on it and puts lube on it too....(she said i had a good thick uterus for that time of the month). Then she sent me to the nurse for bloods.

The transvaginal scan was ok - it was slightly uncomfortable but no more than a smear.

Good luck with your appointment.

Hi there,

My first appointment was a basic Q&A session. If you chart its well worth taking them with you.. some FS's look at them... some dont. They also requested CD2 and CD21 bloods, internal scan and SA from DF. I also had a smear and chlamida test done.

As you can see lots of PCT's are different. Hope this helps and good luck!! xxx

Thanks for all your comments girls. I guess I will just go along and see as like someone said above, everybody's experience is different. I just hope that we can start to get some answers sometime soon - hopefully this year although guess I might be being a little presumptious! xx
