So today is cd3 and I tried the first response fertility today (came free w my pregnancy test) and it shows that I have an elevated FSH level. Kinda bummed bc an elevated FSH can mean I might not have quality eggs. I'm waiting til next month to go get tested at my ob/gyn. Has anyone have any experience w an elevated FSH and still been able to conceive?

Oh I'm 33 and FTC my first.

I'm sure you cannot help but be concerned, but I'd try to wait for the doctor's test before getting upset. Hopefully your ob/gyn will have some answers for you. Hugs.

It may or may not be significant in your case. FSH also changes from cycle to cycle, so what was elevated this time, might not be some other time. It can get better, as well as it can get worse. It usually means that something is going on with your fertility, but it's not enough to label you with a diagnosis of any sort. Especially not when it's taken from day 3 urine... with a store-bought, over the counter strip. The fact that you're 33 is not too alarming, but FSH could be elevated in women a lot younger than you are, too.

My FSH is 9.2 and that's within the normal range, yet still a bit outside the safe bracket for a 34 year old (turning 34 in about a month). On top of that, or actually along with it and/or because of it my AMH levels are extremely low, too, which means that my ovarian reserve (so my fertility) is slowly starting to decline. When we got my AMH results back, it sounded like the end of the world to both the two of us, as well as our RE. Once I've gotten the rest of the results back, and had my antral follicles counted, the whole picture turned into something a lot better.

We're trying for our first one, too, and have been doing it for 3 months (only). We get to keep trying naturally for another few months and, if still no success, we'll go back in for another consultation. IVF may or may not work out, because low AMH/high FSH often does not respond to stimulation needed for egg harvesting. On top of that, we also deal with mild oligospermia (low sperm count). Not fun, but it doesn't sound like the end of the world. There are many success stories, but also those with not such a happy ending, as well.

Either way, I wouldn't consider a store-bought strip reliable at all.
