Is there anyone in these forums that have had to put their child in a helmet?

My daughter has a flat head, and we are trying to correct it without a helmet.

no, Jasmine has a tiny bit of a flat spot because she likes to lay with her head one way... Ive been trying to keep her off it as much as possible during the day.

Yeah, we have been propping her onto her side at night, keeping her off it during the day, it looks a little bit better from when we saw a specialist 2 month ago, but I think she still may need a helmet

I don't care that Caitlyn has abit of a flat head, does that make me a rubbish mum? It'll go.

If it just affected my daughter's head I dont think I would mind, but when it is severe, it affects their facial features as well. So if I can prevent it. I will :)

Oh right, I don't really know much about it. Hopefully you will get some answers from people that do!

My son has it on the right side of his head as hes always sleeping on that side , our dr said to use a soft pillow when he sleeps so this way it wont put pressure on it .

Caitlins was obvious ...it soon sorted out on its own and when we asked the HVs at the time they said it would which as I say it has! :D

The back of Hannah's head was a bit flat around 3 months. It's corrected itself already. We just had her do more tummy time and of course she plays in her exersaucer and jumperoo quite often now she's not laying down on her back nearly as much as she was as a newborn

I just saw on TV "The Dr's" they had a little baby with this problem and they used a styrofoam type helmet which stays on 23 hours a day. Is this the kind of helmet you'd be using? If not maybe you should ask about it if it comes down to needing it.
Good luck I hope her head corrects itself :)

Yeah they have to wear them for 23 hours a day, only off for baths, and allowing their hair to dry. I have been doing a bit of research, and in my province they cost about 2000$ and are not covered by insurance. Im really worried. She is never on it anymore. Because she plays upright (saucer and jumper) all day, and we prop her on her side at night, and it doesnt look a whole heck of alot better aince we say the specialist. :(

wow thats alot of money for a styrofoam hat.... stuff like that should be covered!! Well just keep on working with her and maybe she'll just suprise you :)
