Somehow, and I have no idea how, our indoor cats seem to have fleas. We keep them on anti-flea medication and they don't go outside, but we've still managed to find one or two. It's not a terrible infestation- we've only been bitten a few times- but the flea medication doesn't seem to be getting rid of them. OH bought some flea spray for the house, which should hopefully help. I've caught the cats sleeping on the baby's mattress when the door has accidentally been left open so I want to spray that, but I'm worried this could be really dangerous? I'm still pregnant, but LO could be here literally any day. Does anyone know if it could be harmful to spray the mattress days/weeks before a newborn will be using it?

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't, I use flea bombs and then wash bedding etc at 60.
Xx

We have just had the same problem. It's not really the adult fleas you need to worry about its the millions of eggs they lay. Vacuum, vacuum and vacuum is the only advice I can give. Keep the cats confined if you can for a week whilst you try and get rid of them. Vacuum the babies mattress three or four times (I wouldn't spray it just incase of the fumes) and the. Vacuum everywhere else cushions, sofas, all the floors and fabrics etc and wash absolutely everything else on a high temp beddings, cushion covers etc etc and spray where the cats mainly sit and that should help.

The problem is you can get rid of them for the time being but then the other eggs 'hatch' and you end up with another influx of fleas so you have to keep up with the vacuuming religiously for a few weeks to get rid of them completely. They are such a pain. Hope you get rid of them soon xx

Also the cheaper flea medication isn't great you're better getting the more expensive ones. I'm not sue if you're from the UK or not be we use frontline spot on or advantage and they are good brands. Also try brushing your cat quite a lot. You won't necessarily find fleas on your cat because they drop off everywhere but you will most likely find flea dirt which are lots of black droppings cx
