Hi, I'm 15 weeks pregnant, and caught a terrible flu on Boxing day which has completely wiped me out. My temperature went to mid 38c but is down around low 37's now, plus a rapid heart rate. I've been extremely ill, and usually I wouldn't really care too much and know that in a short time I will heal. However, Im so worried if this has done any damage to the baby. I have read a few articles about increased risk of leukemia and other things, like one does on the net then panics! The strange is as I have been so ill, my nausea which is still with me although not as bad from week 6 to 13, completely disappeared but maybe it is still there i just have been too ill to be sick!!

If anyone knows anymore about having flu around this sort of time of pregnancy and could let me know I would really appreciate it.

Many thanks

xx

I had the flu at week 20 so I know that it is not much fun. I hope you feel better soon and if your worried I would advise you to call your doctor so the worries you have about what can happy to you baby can be answered! :hugs:

I've been down with flu and a really terrible cough for a total period of 2 weeks when I was around 23wks as well, and I had no choice but to go on medication during that time...I was like on medication for 2 weeks kinda freaked me out but my dr said it was fine and the drugs he prescribed would not do harm to the baby...

I know how it sucks to be ill...I hope you feel better soon!

I've been told that if I get a cold or flu to take regular streinght tylonol and if you have a fever over 101F (38C I think) to call the doctor.

Ive had mine since boxing day, but I rang NHS direct yesterday who said as long as my temperature doesn't rise too much then not to worry. I havent been to the doctors but Im gonna leave it a few more days... if theres no sign of it clearing up then Im gonna go.

The only thing they said that might be helpful to you is if you're couging up mucus, if its yellow or bloody you should go to the docs coz it could be a chest infection. (sorry if TMI!)

Hope you feel better soon hun *sniffs*

xxx
