What are you ladies taking? I've not been tested for RMC even tho I have had 7 miscarriages between 4-12 weeks (with two successful pregnancies in between) so I have no idea of the cause. I wanted to err on the side of caution now I have another BFP, I'm no spring chicken so this could be one of my last shots at this!

I take 4-5 folic acid a day, but I've recently read this can be harmful and folate is better!

I'm also on 75mg aspirin and have progesterone to start once I've ok'd it with EPU tomorrow.

I doubt folic acid is harmful that is found in prenatals...BUT, I have heard that folate is easier for the body to absorb so it does have it benefits!

AFAIK it's not harmful as such but can mask the symptoms of deficiency in other b-vits. I did read something a while ago about a by product of folic>folate conversion building up in your body, but quite what the 'risk' is i dont know. I've had to take 12x normal dose to ensure this kid builds himself a skull and a spine - think the balance of risk speaks for itself tbh :)

Castaway is right, as folate is the natural form of B9 it is better absorbed.

Best of luck to you mama x

I only took folic acid my first time, but this time I'm taking 5 mg of methylfolate. There is a specific gene mutation (MTHFR) that makes it difficult for our bodies to absorb regular folic acid; the methylfolate gets around that mutation. The mutation is quite common, especially in caucasians. I don't know whether I have the mutation (the test is expensive) but it can't hurt!

Chameleon, that was my train of thought exactly. I am a RMCer too...
