Hi ladies, wondering if you could help me out.
I m/c Monday last week (9th) at 5wks gone, went and had a scan at the hospital and they did bloods and confirmed it and sent me home. Bleed for the rest of the week but have had nothing now for about 5 days.
Neither the MW at my GP's, or the Dr at the hosp said anything about going back in for a follow up appointment at any stage and was just wondering if this was normal?
Should I be having some sort of 'follow up' appointment or is it okay if nothing happens now and I just get on with it? (so to speak....)

Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. After my first miscarriage at 7 weeks last August, I had an ultrasound after the bleeding stopped to make sure that everything had come out, so to speak. My second miscarriage happened last week. I had a D&C last Wednesday and have my follow-up appointment with my doctor tomorrow afternoon. Not sure yet what he'll do at the appointment, but I can let you know afterwards if you'd like.

That would be good thanks, I'm just unsure if I should be contacting them to arrange something, I'd rather not have to have another one of those horrible internal scans if I can!

The scans are not the most comfortable thing in the world, I agree. But if it comes down to making sure that everything is "good to go" for when you're ready to try again, I'm sure you'll find a way to get through it. Should you just call your doctor to see if they'd like to see you? They'll be able to tell you right away if you need to come back in, I would think.

yeah, i might give them a call tomorrow morning and see what they say. Thanks!

I also had a follow up appointment after my mmc at 9 weeks.. she made it for two weeks later.. just to make sure everything had come out..

Hi Hun, sorry for what your going through. I had 1 ectopic, and 1 m/c, didnt have any follow ups from either docs or hosp, it does worry you but I guess thats the norm down here. I was treated with methotrexate for the ectopic and the m/c was a natural one and still no medical prof wanted to know if I was doing ok x

I haven't got any follow up appointments either hun...

Started to miscarry friday, saw my GP tuesday, at the hospital wednesday. No one mentioned having to go back. I would have been 4 weeks 2 days when i started to miscarry, exactly 5 weeks at the time of my hospital appointment.

I suppose it wouldn't do any harm to call your gp surgery and see if you need a follow up.

Hi there,
I had my follow-up appointment today after my D&C last Wednesday. The doctor said that he just wanted to make sure that we were dealing with everything okay. It seemed like it was more of an emotional appointment than a physical one. He'd like to see me again in six weeks to make sure that my period has returned and everything is going as it should be.
Hope you're doing well.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I rang the dr and they said there was no need to go in, apparenlty as it was a natural m/c. so early on, (5wks) and that I've completely stopped bleeding/spotting within 7 days of it starting that it sounds like everything is fine and unless i start bleeding again heavily or get bad cramps then not to worry.

glad you got your mind put at rest
x
