Food containing milk

Our paediatrician said not to introduce cow's milk till lo is 1. But many of the foods that are baby friendly contain milk, namely baby yogurt and cheese are the two that I want to add to baby's menu. Is anyone else feeding their lo who is under 1 dairy containing food if they haven't been introduced to cow's milk yet?

I'm trying to make pasta for lo, but just don't even know what to add to flavour it if I can't use cheese.. does anyone here use olive oil to make pasta for baby?

I use cheese and yoghurt and also cows milk making mash potato. I just don't use it as a drink for ds as they should still have breast/formula until at least a year old.

I think it's more about nutritional content. Formula/ breast milk better meet babes needs first year. I give my little one Greek yoghurt, cheese etc.

Yeah after some research I think I misunderstood the whole no cow's milk until one" thing. So cow's milk or food containing cow's milk is fine to include just not to substitute it for the formula I'm currently feeding her for nutritional purposes. Yay cheese!

Do you have dairy allergies in your family? Unless you do, I wouldn't avoid dairy. You shouldn't be giving milk as a breastmilk or formula replacement until 1, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have dairy. Actually, here it's encouraged in cooking for under 1's as whole milk is a great source of fat and babies have higher needs for fat than adults so it's a great way to make sure they're getting enough. We've been using dairy (whole milk, butter, full fat natural yogurt, etc.) since we started weaning at 6 months. Personally, I think exposure to these things is important for preventing allergies, but of course, if your doctor has a specific concern, I'd talk to them about their logic. I wouldn't restrict dairy though.
