Foot massage to induce labor?

I've been doing some reading on this, and everywhere it says it shouldn't be tried until you're past your due date. Anyone know why?
I'm 2 days short of 38 weeks and I can't see the harm in trying since I'm full term.

its probably just incase it induces preterm labour if done before then hun! I dont see the harm in doing anything after 37 weeks as you are term then anyway. Good luck x

There are certain points that need to be massaged to induce though. You can google or youtube videos. The OB and nurse that teach my child birth classes would not tell us where they were out of fear that we would try too early. Apparently it works well if your favorable. GL

At my 36.5 week appointment, my doctor said that even though I was 1cm and 50% effaced and that generally that could mean even a few more weeks, she thought I would give birth in the following 2 weeks....she got my hopes up and I now I want baby here really badly! lol
I dropped yesterday, feeling lots of pressure and having quite a few contractions since yesterday, but nothing regular or painful yet.

Um I hope not as my OH has been giving me foot rubs my whole pregnancy almost every night!

Why do you think she says after 40 weeks?
Because it doesn't work till then? Or because they don't want yOu to try it before your due date? Of love to start trying it now 37 weeks today! Reckon it'd be okay?

Im assuming having your foot massaged during a pedicure doesn't count? Because I get it done it feels great!!

When I was 28 weeks I got a pedicure with a foot massage. That night I started having contractions. I went to the hospital twice that week to have PTL stopped and was on bedrest for a week.....

Well now that I am term I went and had a foot massage.. An hour long one..... And... nothing.. nada... zip... No contractions...

Just tried all the things she did in the video twice so we will see.

I will say that this did make my LO move down low like crazy. I feel like he is going to come right out
