just would be good to know which brand everyone uses ... i use sma but i think its making oscar too constipated and going to see the health visitor about maybe switching ? :) please could u tell me ur experiences with brands so i can know wether to switch and what one to put him on thank girls <3 xx

Ive used use cow & gate since Emilie was born & have never had any problems :flower:

We use SMA 1 - I was and SMA baby and so was hubby, many moons ago lol. I thought that chances were it would be ok with Earl. I tried him on their Hungry Baby and it really didn't agree with him though so we're sticking with SMA 1 for the forseeable!

I used to use SMA but Lola had terrible trapped wind. HV said that SMA had a reputation her giving babies bad tummies (her words!) She advised me to switch to Aptamil Comfort for colic and constipation. But she did say that the normal Aptamil would be better than SMA.

Not everyone will agree but I took her advice and Lola has been much better since I changed

I dont know why we chose SMA. I think it was because it was the one I recognised when in the supermarket.

Sophia has got on well with it. However, she occasionally gets constipated and mostly has quite hard firm stools so i do worry about that. maybe i should give another brand a whirl and see if its her or the milk

same as me x:flower:

I use aptamil on advice from hv as logan was really badly constipated on sma gold. Since the day we changed him he has been fine :)

i use aptilmal as recomemded by HV as the better one, and we was advised that SMA seemed to give more babies problems with wind and stool issues.

Seems a few HV's have advised againt SMA though and recomemded Aptimal

We've never had any problems at all with SMA but when I told my HV (bearing in mind this was when he was 9 days old) that we were on SMA she said 'oh well just keep an eye on him'. I wonder what it is about SMA?

We use Aptamil. She's not had any problems at all. No constipation, wind, nothing.

I started out with SMA gold but LO was scoffing it and scoffing it and crying and constipted etc so Community Midwife recommended changing him over to Cow and Gate because sma wasnt satisfying him enough she said bigger babies tend to do better on cow and gate its more filling for them or something

aptimil is best(for nappies - neonatal say they know an aptimil fed baby just by changing the nappy lol), we were on pre-aptimil(preemie milk) then aptimil before getting onto SMA. That left LO constpted but then we used SMA staydown for reflux, and nappies are normal

I use Aptamil. Edward's poos on it are the same as they were when he was on breastmilk xx

SMA is widely rumoured to be the heaviest of all the formulas on the digestion with Aptamil being the lightest. We had C&G at hospital and changed to Aptamil as soon as we got home - Health Visitor said was no problem changing. The only reason Aptamil isnt' available at hospital is because it's more expensive than the other 2! As the other posters said, it's what Neo Natal use and is the closest to breastmilk.

My LO had trapped wind and constipation on aptamil and c&g first. Switched to C&G comfort and loads better. He still occasionally gets a bit constipated... I always worry it might be me having a baby brain moment and losing count of the scoops:blush:

We have it readily available here in hospitals (Ireland) Thought its like that in England aswell

I could have written that lol!
When I had my first daughter, I used SMA but she was always constipated so when I was researching formula milk, I read that Aptamil babies are rarely constipated. She poos exactly the same as she did when I was BF :)

I had problems with SMA so switched to Aptimal :)
