What sleeping position did you find most comfortable or what position are we supposed to sleep in? Just got my section today. I'm tired and want to sleep now. Almost midnight.

I found lying propped up a little on my back the most comfy, for me its still the only position I'm comfy in. And I'm 6 weeks out.

I slept on my side a few hours after my section and most nights since then...sometimes it was a bit painful to turn, but with slow and careful movements I had no problems.

I'm almost 3 weeks past my section and I still haven't managed to sleep on my stomach which I was soooo looking forward to during pregnancy :haha:

I only find it bearable on my back but I'm a side sleeper. I'm scared to turn sides because it feels like my incisions will bust open, even though that's just my imagination.

Zandark, I'm glad I'm not a tummy sleeper! I'm sure you can't wait until you can. I dunno how you tummy sleepers sleep that way. My OH is one; I tried it and I can't breathe right in the tummy position.

I spent 4 (or 5?) days in the hospital where I slept on my back, or on my side very carefully leaning. The bed had to be partially raised on the top, the feet portion pulled up, and a pillow behind my knees. It was difficult. Probably because LO was in the NICU and I was stressed.

At home, I slept on my side, but only hugging my maternity pillow. If I didn't have the pillow things felt like they pulled.

I was sat up in hospital for 4 nights which was the only way I was able to sleep, then once home I was propped up with pillows for a further few nights. Was able to sleep solely on my back for about 2 weeks before being able to comfortably sleep on my sides.

I was able to lay on my stomach from 6 weeks, but I'm unable to sleep that way cause of the hugeness that are my boobs :haha:

Why does it hurt so much to turn towards my sides? Like a sharp pain? You ladies feel the same? I took a shower and looking in the mirror, I saw a lumpy line on the top of my right groin (like 3 inches above). Then a ball of lump somewhere under my tummy. It's sore....I'm worried....is this normal?

For the first 2 nights in the hospital I slept sitting up with the bed fully raised. For the first week home I slept on my back, propped up on some pillows as it was really hard for me to get out of bed otherwise. The next week I didn't need to be propped and just slept on my back. After the 2 weeks though I felt comfortable enough to sleep in any position.

That's exactly how it was for me whenever I attempted to be on my side for the first few weeks. It's most likely down to healing and numbness around the area which really does throw you.

As for the lumps it'll be due more than likely to internal swelling of stomach muscles, as well as internal organs slowly shifting back to when they belong.

i've only just started to comfortably get onto my side to sleep. too bad my wound is now opening on that side :( back to on my back propped up with pillows!

Last night was first night kinda on my side, just my right. Wasn't a full side turn. I had a small plush pillow underneath my left side, like how they would do at the hospital. I was able too sleep a little more comfy, a liiiittle less pain - still painful but small small steps, ya know? Can't wait until I am fully recovered....but I also hear some women never really fully heal?

I think you'll be just fine with recovery, just give it time. I found that sleeping on the couch worked best for me. It was good to be able to pull myself up - I wasn't able to do that in bed. I had a pillow against my back and I laid to the side against the couch to sleep and it worked out really well. Hope you get things figured out and hope that you have a speedy recovery. :flower:
