at the end of your pregnancy were you being checked to see if you was dilating or engaging at all?

or did they just not bother because you was going for a section?

I was told they won't bother with any on that not even growth scans because no point but i think they still check position and see if baby is engaged x

see mine does not even check if bubba is engaged they just went hes as low as he can go and just put a dash through the other details as there not important concidering im three weeks away til my section.

I had growth scan though. it is really weird and i feel they should still check you to see if your going to go early expecially if your expressing a lot of concern over pains.

i think when they see section they think less work, might just be me.

yeah i def agree they should check because what happens if you got early? also i was concerned about not having growth scan my son was 10lb and was to big to engage let alone anything else so i was thinking what if i do go early and they don't know how big this baby is and she is big and same thing happens i see midwife at 37 weeks so probably ask her then i see consultant for section date in 2 weeks but he is pretty useless tbh x

I had my appt with OB yesterday and also my last growth scan...she said I am measuring 38 weeks!! EEK! Growth scan put baby at 6lbs 4oz...and me close to 37 weeks...when I actually turn 36 on Sat. (ticker off by a day)
So she gave me my c-section date of a week before due date! She hasn't yet check me for dialation or anything else....

See.... I don't see a reason to be checked... honestly, if you require a section, they will stop any labor, or at least would carry on with it regardless.

I was checked with my 1st since it wasn't a planned section, I was also checked with my second even though doc KNEW I wouldn't go In to labor and despite me asking not to be checked (my Dr was kind of a creeper) I'm pretty sure my doc now wont be checking, but will just schedule the date since its my 3rd section, and It will be early.

Just my opinion.

i get checked every wednesday just because i have a history of preterm labor, but my doctor said if i didnt have that history she would start checking my weekly anyway at 34 weeks. to make sure

This will be my 3rd and ive never been checked but both babies were transverse then breech so they knew they werent coming out so I suppose it didnt matter.

I'm actually having my cervix checked again at my OB appt today (via u/s)- also had it checked 2wks ago... BUT, as I have placenta previa, they need to keep an eye on everything in case I go into preterm labor. If so, I would need to go straight to ER and call my OB... I'm guessing I may start to go in more often after this appt as I only have 3 1/2 wks left to go till my c-section...

I'm guessing it varies per situation though. Best of luck with everything!

I had an appt yesterday and was checked, they also took a culture for group B strep which they told me they used to only do if there would be a vaginal delivery- the doc said they now do it on c-section people too at my ob/gyn.

I had an elective c-section at 39+3 Jan 2010, I was never checked to see if I was dilated or anything - the c-section was booked so whether of not I was dilated or engaged the section would have went on as normal anyway...:flower:
