For those who have had a c-section before...

For me it was the shakes. Then it was the adrenaline keepin me up for hours that night when my baby was in the nicu and I had the chance to sleep. Then it was the nausea. I was so thirsty and the nurse gave me Gatorade which I promptly threw up. The gas pain sucked too. It was in my shoulders and ribs. I didn't realize how sore I would be like everywhere. And I agree walk as much as you can. I took it easy in the hospital but once I was home I did what I could and I felt great by two weeks pp

I healed up fantastically both times. I was walking the day after with both. The only thing I didn't like was the spinal block making me feel sick, but once that passed, I had no problems/complications whatsoever. Hope my experience is repeated by any c/s mums. Some stories I hear are awful.

I also had the shakes on the operating table - like I was really cold. This is normal, but I didn't know it.

I was extremely upset with my anesthesiologist b/c he did not talk me through my epidural prior to the c-section. After it happened, I learned that it can be common to feel a sensation on the left or right and it can become a weird shock feeling going down your leg. If you feel this, you should try to stay still (hard when you are surprised) and then tell them where you felt it. He didn't tell me and I thought I was going to be paralyzed!

After the c-section walk walk walk and go to the bathroom often. You are supposed to drink a lot of water, but it hurts if you let your bladder get full and then want to get out of bed. The first day I did not walk much and I had really painful gas cramps. I walked 5 times a day around the unit a few times and then I didn't feel like I was suffering at home at all.

My DH did the best thing ever! We bought a video camera with a projector on it. My DH recorded all that happened in the nursery without me. When I went to recovery, my SIL was waiting and we played the video on the ceiling. :hugs:

I think normally you have a catheter? I did. It was great having a whole night where I didn't have to get up to pee for the first time in months!!

My catheter was only in for one day. But I had pain if my bladder was full the next 2 days.

Mine was in for 2.5 days. I didn't have any pain from a full bladder though.

too funny!!!!! Lol lol

I didnt expect how much pain i would be in for the 1st one- The nurses were pissed because i refused to walk i was in so much pain- with my second c section to my twins it was horrifying because i was feeling fine but then i guess betwen the back and forth from home to the nicu everyday took its toll on me - i got an infection in my scar - Horrible.. Didnt expect that because i wasnt new to having a c section and i followed my post op to the "T" My Dr laughed at me because he was like your being so dramatic lol- he was right because it cleared with in a week it just took a lot longer for the scar to close- my 3rd c section was a breeze lol the only thing i hated that i can really recall and relate to everyone was the constant shaking on the table and vomiting after the fact. I was so embarrased i threw up in front of the Dr's that came in to my room right after giving birth to my twins - LOL- But what can you do - its major surgery. Ive given birth vaginally and never had any issue - only thing that was similar was that "cold shaky feeling" I wish I could give birth vaginally again ... but health is what matter most and Thank God they are all strong and healthy

OH YES AND THE FULL BLADDER PAIN THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!! I kept getting up every hour to empty my bladder because I didnt want the "tank" any where near full-THE WORST LOL - no seriously it was - :)

Not just related to my c-section, but I learned too late that you cannot lose weight too quickly or you will decrease your milk supply. I lost 25 pounds in 2.5 weeks (I was overweight pre-pregnancy so I thought it was normal to lose a lot of weight since I was eating healthier). Now I cannot pump more than 5 oz milk per day
