I had my midwife appointment this morning and baby is still breech. With my first pregnancy, she was head down from 28 weeks so it was never an issue.

As well as getting worked up about him not turning for a natural delivery, I'm also now worried about hip dysplasia, which I know is more common in breech baby's. My niece (not blood related) was breech all along and had hip dysplasia and had to wear a brace for the first few months of her life.

If you had a breech baby, did they have hip dysplasia?

Nope. And was breech till 40 weeks, turned by ecv. She was Frank's breech

No. My little boy swung between transverse and breech throughout my pregnancy before going head down at 36 weeks. I was induced a few days later and he'd turned back again. They gave him a hip scan at 6 weeks and he was absolutely fine.

I'm pretty sure I wrote this post when I was pregnant because I was so worried! :haha: My son was breech from the very beginning and has never had hip problems. He had extra hip scans and the pediatrician makes sure to check his hips thoroughly at every checkup.

DS was breech till 36 weeks I think, his hips were absolutely fine. He had extra ultrasound checks on them because there is a family history of hip dysplasia but he is absolutely fine.

My DD was breech. Her hip did pop out at birth but they popped it back in again straight away. She had a hip scan at 6 weeks old but has had no problems whatsoever.

Oh wow! I did not know this could happen to breech babies.
My girl swinging between transverse and breech, so will keep an eye on her hips after the birth

my lo was breach. When she was born the dr said the hips were fine but sent us for an u/s anyway. The u/s showed that it was possible that the hip joint had not fully grown. We were given the option to repeat the u/s in 2 weeks or put a brace on and come back in a month to repeat the u/s. We chose to start the brace right away rather than waiting 2 weeks if treatment was needed.

Ds1 had the hip brace but was not breech but ds2 was breech (natural birth) and has no hip problems.

DD1 was an undiagnosed breech (natural delivery), and had most likely been that way from 28 weeks until she was born at 39+6. She's just turned 5 and has never had any hip issues at all.

DS was breech until 37 weeks and was turned by ECV. He had an ultrasound on his hips at about 6 weeks and was fine x

My first was breech and her first hip scan showed a slightly shallow joint. It was fine by her second scan however and she didn't need treatment
