Since being diagnosed with GD, my weight hasn't gone up at all. The baby is measuring large so I am assuming that it is gaining and I am losing! However, over the past couple of days my weight has actually gone down (by 2lbs) so I am slightly concerned. I am trying to be really strict with my food etc and haven't cheated at all, but also over the last couple of days my glucose levels have gone up a bit even though I have been eating the same thing pretty much every day.

Has this happened to anyone else? I do have an appointment with the diabetes clinic on Wednesday so shall say to them, even though they weigh me anyway.

Any help gratefully received.

Ive put on between 6-7kg, the last kg goes up and down a bit at the moment. Mine mostly went on in early pregnancy but I havent needed to be so strict with my food upto the last week and could still eat bad things like macaroni cheese to no ill effect.

In the past week my readings have been going up slightly. Ive had about 3 mornings where its been slightly over the 5.5 and last night after dinner I hit 8.3 after homemade pizza which has never been a problem before - I wont be eating that again until baby is born :haha: Im waiting for my hospital appointment to come through so the gestational diabetes midwife can look over my figures.

Its normal for the figures to rise, the baby is getting bigger and placenta is working more (its the placenta that causes the problems). It may well be that you eat little in the way of carbs and still end up with high levels.

Hi there don't worry about your weight it's probably because you're eating more sensibly. I have GD and have only put on 6lbs the whole pregnancy and I'm now full term.

Hope this helps. xx

Hi :) when i was pregnant, i didn't get diagnosed until 34 weeks, however i'd been showing glucose in my urine since 20 weeks..
Before pregnancy i was 128lbs.. after being diagnosed i was 167lbs.. at full term i had dropped to 156lbs! i can only put this down to cutting out the sugary foods, so yes i think thats normal to lose weight, but if you have concerns then let your diabetes nurse know as they can put your mind at rest xx
