Hi ladies :flower: I've been posting here and there but was waiting until af arrived this month to say hi :)

I'm 23, DH is 22 and we've been ttc since January, though unfortunately in August I went for a family planning consultation where I took in my charts and based on them she noticed I had a 8-9 day LP (LPD- making this cycle 15 for us) so she rx'd me Clomid 50mg days 5-9 to get my cycles lengthened out. Currently my LP sits at about 11 days after the Clomid.

So when I originally went in for my consultation she asked if we wanted my DH to do an SA right away or wait and we decided to wait since if we were to get preg in the first month or so it would have just been a waste of money so if we weren't preg by cycle 3 on Clomid we would do it... weeelllll I started af today and so we're on cycle 4 for Clomid.

Now after that rambling, here's my question for you fine ladies: What's a normal SA? What do we ask to know in an SA? I'm honestly just clueless about this whole thing :dohh:

Thank you in advance! xx

Hi, sorry to hear you are having issues, it's not the best game in the world to play but alas, some of us are unfortunate to have too.

Good luck with Clomid. I had six rounds of it earlier this year, although two failed to make me ovulate. I have been put on the waiting list to have injections and I'm taking Clomid again whilst waiting. I don't have cycles on my own and haven't since before I started BC when I was 15, taking the Clomid means I at least have a shot.

Hmmm, I seem to have a problem with rambling. Lol.

Anyway, unfortunately I can't help you personally with the SA results as my doctor just told us that hubbys were 'fantastic' and asked him if he has considered sperm donation. Lol. However, this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semen_analysis should give you some information on what you need.

Good luck with your journey, I sincerely hope it's not too much longer.

Here are some links that someone put up in another thread. Mayne they can shed some light.

Thanks so much ladies! I'll take a look at those links! :)

and Princess Lou: Don't worry about rambling! I do it quite often :haha:

pheonixrose: I tried your links, but they didn't seem to work?

SA results are pretty easy to read and your doc should tell you whats going on... what i did want to suggest is taking 100mg B6 complex to lengthen your LP out a bit more.

Good luck :)

Just a little tip... ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ask for a copy of ALL lab results! Docs like to skip things and it is always helpful to have them on hand to refer back to. (and to google!)

because the nurse told us that dh sa was fine and it is accept for the fact that she left out the fact that his semen has moderate debris which the re told me (after I asked about it) that it could get in the way of the sperms ability to swim (like an obstical course) and that it may or may not cause a problem but it can be fixed with iui because a sperm washing will get rid of all the debris anyways. I would not have known about it though if I hadn't asked for a copy of the results.

trying hard: I've been thinking about doing that, guess it couldn't hurt, right? :)

Oh that's good to know, thanks no_regrets_91!

Try this, this is the thread it came from, the links are toward the beginning of the tread posted by 'cooch':
