Jessica has been really constipated for a few days and on Tuesday the h/v told me just to give her cooled boiled water in between feeds and that should rectify the problem. Well it hasnt and im not seeing her again until wednesday so today went and bought the aptimal easy digest formula as it says it makes stools softer but is it ok just to change the formula? She is on the aptimal 1st just now but this one also says from birth onwards but just want to check its ok just to change it? Kx

I havent changed formula but maybe do it a meal at a time. So one day give it her, for one meal, then next give her for 2 and so on? Not sure when we changed to hungry baby although it didnt work out we were told to do one meal for 3 days then up to 2 but not sure if thats the same when changing like you are. I am sure someone will know who has done it though!

I never had any problem changing formulas with my boys. They've been on C&G normal, C&G Comfort, Aptamil, Nutriprem and now SMA. Had to change to see which ones suit them best!

But if you want to get her to pooh - Neo Natal nurses use half ounce of cooled boiled water with a teaspoon of fresh orange juice once a day until they pooh.

we changed from aptamil 1 to aptamil hungry baby and maddi was fine :) i no my hv always recommend a little prune juice and cooled boiled water for constipation, hope it passes soon :hugs: x x

Jack was consitpted at first due to being breast and formula fed. My HV said to give cooled boiled water aswell but i didnt find it helped.
I changed his milk to Cow & gate Comfort 1 from Aptimal and he hasnt been constipated since. Would highly recommend it :hugs:

I did a straight swap too from Aptamil 1 to 2 with no problems.

I would of thought a gradual change over in the milk would work better but i've never tried it.

A drop of brown sugar in the water is supposed to help ease constipation :)
