What a shame they're being stopped. I thought they were a fantastic idea - a great way for the government to encourage reading.

Actually, a quick google suggests that the government did a U turn on this and will continue to finance (unless they've changed their minds again...).

My hv told me they'd stopped them when I saw her last week as she arranged imogens 2 yr review for next week! Was really looking forward to adding some new books to her rapidly growing mini library lol boooooo to the government!!

I only got given a bookstart pack ONCE with second eldest DS and this was at his 9 month check. In this area they do a 12 month check (more like 14 months in reality) so the books they usually give at 9 month check would probably be too young then, I have never been given any other book packs by the HV. I did hear that in this area the local library gives them out when you apply for membership for your baby which can be from birth but just never got round to it xx

I'd be inclined to check with your local library. Even if it's going to stop (which I don't think it is - the most recent articles on google I can find suggest it isn't), they've probably not run out of books yet.

i got a book bug bag today with information and a few books from the hv, lo is 9 weeks

we got one at 8 week jabs. got 1 yr check at end of month so no idea if we will get another. x

If you are registered at your local Sure start centre then you can get them from there as well. The goverment did do a u turn on the second packs and at the moment are still available but I don't know how long that will be for. x
