Hi Girls,

While stuck on the train on a very long journey last night i saw something very inspiring - an advert for free IVF if you egg share.

It got me thinking. I know how hard i found it when i was first told IVF was my only option and i'd have given anything to get my BFP!

So i've contacted them already - i know i'm currently on clomid but i don't know that ivf wont have to happen eventually so i'd rather give help to others if i can.

take a peak at this

OMG babe, r u gonna do it? I think it's a womderful way for women to get ivf while helping others. :hugs:

I also think its a great thing to do - something I would certainly look into if IVF is the way I have to go..

xx

i've contacted them to gain more information about it but if ivf is what has to happen for me then year i'm gonna do it! if i can help others then why not! Would make me feel even more gretful when i finally get my baby too!

Thats amazing - i have just sent off for more info too. I would happily egg share to get free IVF.
Thankyou so much for this post.
B x xx :hugs:

ive seen these b4 in the back of magazines and papers, and always thought they are too good to be true, so im very curious as to how u get on. keep us informed! x

I'll tell you why I wouldn't do this... it sounds like a great idea at first, but what if your IVF fails? Then you get to thinking about your other eggs, that might have gotten another woman pregnant, yet you still don't have your baby. The thought of that would bother me too much to do it. If it was a guaranteed baby for me, then I probably would do it.. egg donation is a fantastic thing and I would be up for that alone, if I had my own children, but not if I don't.

Hopefully though, you'll get your :bfp: anyway this month Anna ;)

This is something ive looked into before and there are lots of things to consider ...

You only get 1 shot at IVF ... and thats the basic package, if you need any extras ICSI etc then you have to pay on top.

Like has been said before, if it doesnt work you STILL have to donate your eggs, how would you feel about it? Esp if your eggs help another to concieve yet you dont?

It isnt something to be taken lightly, i know hard times call for hard measures but make sure you look into something like this very seriously and dont jump to rash decisions.

Good Luck!!

thanks girls - i'mhoping it doesn't come to the IVF stage but if it does then it's something i will seriously look into and get all my options before making a decision.

Hi girls,

Interesting debate. It's not only the fact that your eggs could have helped another couple have a child and not you but the fact that, that child is yours genetically. You might think its too good to be true but it carry's alot of baggage. As the child will biologically be yours you have to sign papers to say stuff like you won't e.g. stalk the other couple.....but also that the child has the right to find out who their biological mother is.....so come 18 years later and you may get a knock on the door saying 'hi mum'........spooky or what!!!!

But by then you may have 3 kids of your own and happily settled....or you might have been psychologically scarred, had loads of rows with your hubby and friends and family, divorced and still pining for that child you could never have.....ohmigod hollywood here we come!

Yep - since the laws have changed they have less people donating sperm and eggs since there are no privacy laws in place.

I would love to be able to donate my eggs and from a financial aspect, it can help those who can't afford IVF. The thing that worries me is if i only had 5 eggs and they put 2 back, i'd have none left to freeze. What if you only had 2 eggs - then they would implant 1 and freeze the other for someone else - not you?

On a smiley positive note a lot of PCTs are changing their rules as of April and giving 3 goes at IVF on the NHS which is a good thing! yay! x

Exactly! I know it depends where you are but i'm in the south (Kingston upon Thames) and i found out that from April i will get 3 goes which is good news! Apparently all the waiting times are being changed too so things should move a lot quicker!x
