After not gaining weight for nearly a mth my LO has rocketed to 14llbs. She is ten weeks.

I have sadly put away the newborns and 0-3 mths and started on our batch of 3-6mths.

OH is French and MIL has boughtt us tonnes of French stuff in all sizes. The French stuff is lovely and very different to what you can find in the UK. BUT, the 3-6 and 6mth stuff fits her perfectly with little room for growth!

Has any one else found this or do i just have a podger?:flower:

Not French but we find this with American/Canadian clothes. We have relatives is the US and Canada and they send us beautiful clothes but the sizes come up small. Gaby is just in 3-6 month UK clothes and has fitted 9month American brands for quite some time!

Yes - we've had gifts sent from friends in Europe...France, Belgium etc. and they are all rather small compared to the UK sizing.

As far as I can tell, sizings - even in the UK - are utterly arbitrary, just like in adult clothes. My ten week old is a 6-9mth in some things while still a NB in others! I often think baby clothes are designed by people who have never actually seen a baby...

Speaking of sizing, does anyone else find Next sizes alot more giving and last longer...There great, LO is 4.5 months old and is as podger but still fits the 0-3 month Next grow's!

I find French ones wayyyyyy to small in the neck and huge in the legs. Alex isn't exactly short either, or massive on the neck by aaaany means :haha:

next are definaley giving I think, but Asda's George basics are massive, we still can use 0-3 which is ridiculous if you go by either Alex's corrected or actual age

I find french clothes much smaller and a narrower fit. Harrison has a few petit bateau babygrows and they have very thin arms and very narrow body part. They're 12-18 months in size and hes 8 months old, quite chubby but not amazingly so and they're not going to fit for very much longer.
xx

French clothes are tiny. Except Emile Et Rose which is weirdly huge!

I dont think US clothes are small tbh, amelie has pumpkin patch, osh kosh and carters stuff and its pretty much the same as UK things IMO.

Gap is small though, mamas and papas is slim fitting as is boots and yes, french clothes are really small although theyre perfect for my Amelie has shes really petite (in 12-18 still and she's 2 tomorrow but has a really tiny waist so next etc nonadjustable jeans slide down lol!)

We have different brands here. I found that Obaibi-Okaidi (which is french) sizes are a bit smaller than American/UK brands, I shop from there most of the time as they have the best collection for boys, but I have to go 1 or 2 sizes larger than his age. Osh gosh bgosh is American but their sizes are similar to Mothercare sizes. M&P are too slim & short, Debenhams the right sizes for age & M&S are a bit large. Zara's sizes are also perfect but a bit slim.

Thanks-I'll try some from there-might save some money!

French clothes are quite small, my LO's pretty dinky and was fine in 6 month stuff at 3 months.

Not sure of makes but my LO has a few outfits from France and they seem much smaller . She was in a 6-9 month outfit at 3 months ...... Eeeeek . But she is just gone 6 months and she is still in her 3-6 clothes from here so it isn't that she is big or anything hah :)

Obaibi stuff is small as they used to sell that brand in mothercare when my eldest was a baby, we had to go up at least 1-2 sizes and he was quite petite. Haven't tried any other French brands though xx

We get a lot of french clothes since OHs father has family there, and I've found it runs pretty small compared to our sizes here. He currently is in 6-9 months but can wear 12 months in French clothing.

Oh dear think I have a porker on my hands. My dd is 3 months and I've just out a next 6-9 top on her today and it fits :s

I find they vary. We have a 6mo vest from petit bateau which he's almost out of & a 0-3 sleep suit that still fits- only just length wise but really lots of room width wise. Our LO is very long in the body though so I guess that's why.

I find the next stuff quite short - my lo is long and thin and the next grows are now too short, sainsbury and asda are about right and tesco slightly too long! Most would go round him twice though!

I've got a fair bit of stuff from France (and Poland - my mum tends to go abroad for work trips and spends most of the time shopping for her granddaughter's wardrobe instead) - hadn't really noticed it running all THAT small though.
