friend requests?

sorry, I looked all over and couldn't find an answer-

What does it mean to 'friend' someone on B and B? I know how to do it, just not what it will actually do (does that make sense ?)

Just adds a list of friends like it does on Facebook in a way I guess. Easy way of viewing friends profile, following your friends updates and contact links.
