Hi Ladies,

I'm 37 and I've been TTC for two years. We conceived fairly easily in Nov 2013 but I had a missed miscarriage in Jan 2014 (only developed to 6 wks). I didn't conceive again until Nov 2014 but that was a CP. I tried acupuncture for 6 months before starting to get tests in January and just recently started seeing a FS. My numbers are promising (FSH 3.7 AMH 4.18) and all other bloodwork and DH's SA is great. I've charted for 2 years and my charts all clearly show O. I've completed 3 rounds of Clomid (50mg) which has given me some great follicles, but no BFP.

When I had my ultrasound in Jan 2014, as well as the several since, they've noted a "small" fibroid in my uterine cavity. I've been told by my OB for the last 1.5 yrs that this wouldn't be a factor in either the miscarriage or conceiving by my FS said otherwise after my HSG yesterday (tubes clear, just showed this fibroid/polyp).

The FS is recommending both a Hysteroscopy to remove the fibroid as well as Laparoscopy to check for endo (my only symptom being infertility). I feel fairly comfortable going ahead with the Hysteroscopy since it's clear there is something there to deal with but the Laparoscopy feels a little overkill. From the very limited research I've done, it seems like even if there is endo, removing it may not affect my fertility. They wanted to do the Hysteroscopy this week but I'm gambling and giving myself one more cycle since I'll O later this week and there is a small chance that the HSG could up my fertility.

If anyone who has been through this has any experience info to share I would truly appreciate it! Thanks for reading.

It's been a couple of years but I have been through a very similar situation and now have a DD to show for it and just found out I am pregnant again (which will hopefully stick).

In 2012 I began ttc. After 7 or 8 months I finally had a BFP which became a CP. I then got another BFP very quickly which became a MMC at 8 weeks. My MC was complicated. After 1 month of non-stop bleeding I began having test. My ultrasound showed 3 small fibroids, 1 outside of my uterus and 2 in the wall, cysts in my cervix and an unknown in my uterus which they thought was a polyp.

It was decided I would have a hysteroscopy with polyp removal. I was asleep for the procedure which turned out to be a good thing. Through the hysteroscope my doctor saw that I did not have a polyp but retained products of conception with an active blood supply - hence the non-stop bleeding. He did a D&C on the spot. The entire thing took about 45 minutes.

I stopped ttc for two cycles so my body had time to fully heal. Two cycles after that I was pregnant with my DD.

Fibroids rarely cause infertility but if the fibroid is on the inside of your uterus, like a polyp, it can prevent implantation just as a polyp would or the retained products of conception that I had.

I did not have endo so I can't help there but I would ask the doctor about possible scarring from laproscopy as scarring can cause infertility. It's not fun to have these procedures twice and deal with healing twice but maybe you start with the hysteroscope and hold on the other. It sounds like even if you have endo it's a very minor case.

Good luck!

Thank you, ItsAWonder. That's wonderful that you conceived so quickly after your procedure!

It really wasn't that hard for me to get preg the first time, so annoying that it's been so tough since. I've even been going to acupuncture for the last year. Crossing my fingers that the HSG amped up my chances this month, if not hopefully removing the fibroid/polyp will do the trick.
