FTM Freaking Out A Bit

Forgot to add...I started the cd at 34 weeks and used it religiously every day. It takes 38 minutes to listen to the program so you need to be willing to invest your time in order for it to work.

I definitely think I can invest the time. Especially since I'm not even 16 weeks yet! I'm really excited to start trying it. Anyone else have any hynobirthing stories?

LOL! I should have looked at your ticker :dohh: I'm excited for you! It worked so well.

(only read first post) My advice is to do your research. Being well-informed is your best weapon against interventions and gaining confidence. I would recommend reading up on Ina May Gaskin as well as researching every specific detail that concerns you. The more you know, the better prepared you will be. Try to avoid resources that are out there to scare you and focus on the ones that give real information as well as sources that value the natural process. Good luck!

I freaked out all the way through my pregnancy. I did hypnobirthing and yoga and tried a home birth. I ended up transferring to hospital and had ventouse and a tear.

Even though it was very painful at times, I now wish I hadn't wasted so much time worrying because you have so little control over it. Your body just does it's thing and you just have to manage how you can. Hypnobirthing didn't do much for me but gas and air was incredible. I sucked my way through 4 canisters of those bad boys. It's over so quick really in the grand scheme of things and by the end I couldn't feel anything - not even contractions. It was so so weird. I didn't even know if I had torn which I did.

Do whatever you need to do to feel comfortable but know that you will get through it, you will survive and you will have something that will rock your world in the most unimaginable way. It only gets better from birth.

Good luck!

I was under the care of a doctor (well, several doctors as I went through a clinic) and had a hospital birth with no interventions and just using gas and air as "pain relief" (truthfully it did nothing to help with the pain but it did help me breathe through contractions). It's painful, yes, but I found it to be manageable. There wasn't any point where I even remotely considered getting an epidural.

I found that my doctors and nurses were extremely encouraging and supportive of a more natural birth, I was never offered pain relief other than the G&A and after I was induced I was sent home to labour there for as long as possible.

It's totally doable. Try not to stress out over it. :)
