Does anyone know off the top of their head how many working hours per week is generally classed as a full time job? ie, 25/30 hours a week

Just trying to figure out my holiday entitlement

usually somewhere in the region of 35-40 hours a week :)

35+ is full time in a normal contract sense, tax credits count 30 hours as full time, so do DWP, Some contracts are 40!

It really depends, id say if you're contracted for 35+ thats full time :)

I always thought it was 37.5 paid hours  Most people work a 40 hour week but that includes 30mins unpaid lunch break.

I think it is 35 hours. If you do the average 9 -5 you will be entitled to a 1 hour lunch break so this comes to 35 hours working.

xx

Hiya, I work in welfare to work and liaise with the job centre a lot. The DWP actually consider 16 hours or more as full time. Strange! You get more working tax credit if you work over 30 though. Employers usually consider full time as 30+ hrs per week xx

I work a 30 - 35 hour week and thats on part time hours compared to my original 55+ when i was full time, seems like 30 - 35 is a lot fo be considered part time

Mainly wondering how my holiday entitlement will change

55 hours a week! whew and I thought I had it hard doing 42 a week! I would of thought at least 30 hours would be considered full time.

I do 30 hours and it's part time :)

I would say 37.5 is the average full time hours.

But when you go on websites like entitled.to etc .. and they ask you your working hours

it goes

1 - 15
16 - 29
30 +

So maybe 30 + is considered fulltime?

do tax credits go down a lot if you work between 16 & 29 hours? x

37.5 is Fulltime hours!! 55 hours you mustve been bringing home mega bucks :)

At my work it goes off how many days you work, with regards to the holiday entitlement. So say you work 5 days a week, you will get the full 28 days holiday entitlement but will only be paid what you would if you were working that day. So you could work 4 hours each day and get 28 days hols a year, each day would be paid at 4 hours.
If you work less than the 5 days, then it would be pro-rata - so if you worked 3 days a week, 10 hours a day, you would get 17 days holiday a year but each day would be paid at 10 hours.
Did that make sense? I'm probably just repeating what you already know though!

id say 35...

oh works 30 and i view that as part time in comparison to the 48 he did before i went back to work...

but tax credits have us down as both working full time

hth
x

I am currently employed full time doing 37 hours over 5 days (7.24 per day), when I go back in April I will be doing 32 hours over 4 days (8 hours per day) and my leave will change from being worked out in days to worked out in hours. Gonna arrange to meet up with another part-timer soon to see how it affects my leave

Formally 30+ hours is full time, although most companies have full time workers working 35 or 37 hours a week.
