Hi,

I had my 36 week midwife appointment today and as she went to measure bump she said gosh it's grown and measured it at 36cm, i said is that big? She said it's the upper end of normal :shrug:
But i thought at 36wks 36cm was normal?
Confused now :shrug::wacko:

Also silly question but does it make a difference if u had a bit of a pot belly pre pregnancy??

I measured the same at my 36 week appointment and my doctor said it's perfect. Exactly what I'm supposed to measure.

No 36 is what it's supposed to be at 36 weeks. What a moron.

Yeah she is a bit odd to be honest, she left me feeling like i'm going to have a giant baby :wacko:

36cm for 36 weeks is perfect. That is exactly what you want to measure. Funny MW! lol

I measured 36cm at my 32 week appointment on Thursday. Now that means a big baby. You, however, are just exactly where you should be at 36 weeks. Not sure why your midwife would call you the upper end of normal--you're normal!

your suppoes to be the same amount of cm's as weeks, however, they give a 2-4cm difference at times.

So no ur not big.

I had my 36week appointment yesterday and I measured 38.5 cm , swear he's gonna be a bruiser :) x

im 34 weeks and have been measured 36 weeks. ive been measuring about 2 weeks ahead for a while.

you are measuring perfect! :)

That is completly normal, i was 36 at 36weeks. You are supposed to measrure in cm the amount of weeks you are past 30weeks

yeah thats normal right on track id say i have been measuring 4wks ahead for the last few wks.

due 14th april

In our welsh maternity notes there are measurement curves, similar to the centile charts for baby measurements where the midwifes plot the FH measurements. The normal range is between the 10th and 90th curve, the 50th curve being average. My measurements have been consistently measuring the same as my weeks, 36cms for 36weeks, and I've been plotted half way between 50th and 90th curve, so above average. I think, tho, that average babies are 7lb something, so your baby probably won't be too big. I was the same with my first and he came out at 8lb 4oz. Hope this allays your fears a little cos I'm trying to remind myself of that too! :winkwink:
