My LO is almost 7 weeks old. He seems to be fussy a lot of the time. He takes constant entertaining to keep happy and sometimes even soothing him doesn't work. I have tried baby wearing. We haven't successfully gotten into the K'tan. He cries each time I put him in even if he was happy before. Sometimes he has a really good day or span of time he isn't so fussy but a lot of days he is very fussy and things only keep him happy for short periods of time. Does anyone have experience with this? Does it get easier? Any suggestions of things that help? It's hard to want to go out anywhere because I am always afraid he will start crying. He's definitely got some lungs on him also.

Have you tried swaddling him? I wasn't able to put my son down at that age without him getting worked up. If I swaddled him tight he would settle fine and stay awake for 20 minutes happy then drift off. Now at 10 weeks I am making the swaddle less snug every couple of days which he is tolerating well. Xxx

They are going through a great deal of massive and scary (for them, anyway) mental and physical changes almost constantly at this age! Fussiness is, sadly, a fact of life with a very young baby!

It definitely gets better though! LO had some horrible stages but is (mostly) a joy now. To start with you pretty much have a different baby every week, but it calms down eventually, and is so much easier to bear as your baby starts to interact and give more positive feedback in the form of laughter, gestures, imitation, affection, etc.

Stick it out and it'll all be a distant memory soon. Tiny babies can be a challenge and even, dare I say it, boring and crappy company at times when they just won't let up! But they really do become SO amazing. :)

I have been having the same issues with my LO.... Sometimes he just will not stop crying - even though he is NOT hungry. It seems that (literally) the only thing that will work is when my DH turns on the exhaust fan in the kitchen...the fan noise somehow quiets him. :wink wink:

Have read the book about the 5 S's (swaddle, side, shush, suck, sideways motion) but none of those seem to work reliably.... My MIL gave me this book Meaning of a Baby which seems to imply that some of the issues could be my LO's personality but I don't know if I believe that either.

At least my DH has coverage tonight! Cheers ladies! :baby:

Babies can have silent reflux without the vomiting My second son had it and was an angry baby for the first six weeks. Once he got meds that I forced the doc to let us try, all his fuzzy behaviour stopped. It's worth looking into
