LO has never been a great eater. We started BLW at 6 months but LO still doesn't really eat very much at 13 months. The only things she'll eat are pasta and bread. She'll barely touch any kind of fruit or veg. She's still BF and has at least 4 feeds a day and wakes several times at night to feed. The BLW book says I should trust LO to eat what she needs but if all she eats is carbs and she's having constipation issues because of it then what am I supposed to do?

could it be shes super fussy in the day due to knowing she will get the night feeds to top her up, we had this problem wen my lg was 13 months, she stopped eating in the day n then demanded milk at night wich because she hadnt ate we gave into, the hv suggested refusing her the milk one night (a night non of us slept really) but the next day she got up hungry n ate more n tried more, also my little girl gets constipated n iv had to resort to putting a bowl of fruit infront of her n telling her to have a try or she wont have anything else n she eats it but shes a bit older

Cut down the milk, hide the veg in sauces, keep trying it takes time x

I feel your pain! My DD is still a nightmare when it comes to food and she's just turned two.... we couldn't hide veg in sauces cause she won't eat sauces....

the things that did work....
ella kitchen pouches stage 1 - will only eat a couple of the varieties but would eat these when refused all my homecooked purees! still occassionally has one when she is ill and won't eat anything else!

pureed fruit pots on own or mixed with baby porridge

make cheese sauce for the pasta and add peas and sweetcorn! or corn on cob - is exciting!

she will eat a couple of soft fruits - blueberries and strawberries and satsumas (although initially we even had to remove the skin of the segments so it was just the very inside bit!)

she now likes dried fruit- especially apricots and humzinger fruit sticks

also got her eating carrot soup - but not pureed carrot!

oh and she'll eat loads of things at nursery but point blank refuse them at home.....

good luck! our DD has a very boring diet but we've managed to make it fairly balanced even if it is the same things most days....!

oh and she loves cake- there's a surprise! so can hide some veg in savoury muffins!

My LO likes some veggies- but not enough to get all she needs... so I started blending them up with sauce for her pasta. None the wiser ;) As for fruit- that she likes- but I do allow her juice (mostly water) during the day. Maybe try a smoothie? Mix some yogurt and veggies/fruit all up together? My SIL does that with her LO and it works well. Helps when they are old enough to use a sippy cup with a straw though. I've done this for LO and made it thicker so I could spoon feed- and that sometimes works. Hit and miss.

My LO also has times she wants to feed herself and refuses foods that she can't just grab and eat. So I'll slice up fruits or steam veggies so she can grab them herself. Even if they just play with it- least they are getting exposed and may take to it if you keep trying. My doctor told me that sometimes it can take up to 10x's offering a food before LO will take to it. So just be persistent and encourage new things- but have back-ups you know they will take if all else fails. That's all I can think to offer... Best of luck!

Oops- you mentioned BLW, I'm sure you already offer foods LO can grab ;)
