Hi all. Just wondering if anyone else has gained an exorbitant amount of weight thus far? I was no supermodel to begin with (at 175 lbs), but now the scale makes me want to cry every time I step on it! Until about 8 weeks along, I had twins, so I was ALWAYS ravenous and gained 17 lbs, and now I've packed on another 13! Please, PLEASE, I don't need any negative comments or "constructive criticism"... I know what I am eating and it is NOT so much or so bad that I should have gained 30 lbs so quickly... I am really just wondering if anyone else has gained a lot? Thanks!

i have a single baby and i gained 18 lbs before i started 2nd tri. i had extreme hunger during first tri instead of morning sickness. once my appetite went back to normal, i lost everything i had gained and then began to gain weight normally throughout the rest of my pregnancy... well actually.. i havent gained alot.. only about 11 lbs. i also did not start out as a small girl. im 5'8 and pre pregnancy was 210. if the weight gain doesnt slow down.. they may want to test you for gestational diabetes early instead of the normal 26-28 weeks.

Ive gained enough at this point (about 12-14 pounds) but with my son, I had probably gained 30 pounds by time point. I gained a total of 60 pounds with him. Didnt matter what I ate or what I did, the pounds just kept packing on! I know its hard, I cringe even stepping on the scale now, but once LO is born, you can loose it.

I'm not sure how much I gained with my first pregnancy at 16 weeks but I KNOW it was more than I've gained this time around at 16 weeks (7 pounds). I ended up gaining 70 pounds with my son and believe me, towards the end, I just didn't really want to know how much I weighed. I gained weight ALL over and I was horribly swelled.

I breastfed and ended up dropping 40 pounds in 4 months. I had to go back to work, my son stopped nursing from me (got used to the blasted bottle :( ) so the rest of the weight was a little harder to lose but it DID come off. I put him in his stroller and did lots of walking when it warmed up.

So try not to worry about it for now. Different women gain different amounts with different pregnancies.

Dont feel down. When I was pregnant with my son I gained 80-100lbs. Every pregnancy is different and everyone's body handles it differently. I gained that much and I ate healthy. Lots of it was water weight. But with this pregnancy (my 2nd) I haven't gained a pound 21 weeks so far. No one should ever criticize you ?
Take care. :)

No advice really but just wanted to say not to feel down about it and noone should criticise, :hugs:

Well i think you should talk to your doc, could be something else going on, i know last pregnancy i was gaining 10 pounds a week sometimes but it was because i had preeclamsia, so please mention it on your next visit to the DR.

if you arent eating excessively (btw sometimes tracking it on a program such as myfitnesspal helps cause odd things have far more calories than we realize). then it is super important to talk to your doc. fluid retention etc is a problem. we already have an increased blood volume due to being pregnant. you can strain your heart etc.

please dont stress too much about how much weight you are gaining. With my son i didnt keep a check on how much weight by what point but i went from 14 stone 4 at the start to 17 stone 2 when he was born. Now because i put on weight when i should have lost if after he was born im a big lady... so havent put much on yet. I did put on about 5/6 lb but dropped again to my pre-preg weight.

remember we have extra blood, water retention, baby, amniotic fluid, placenta... this all adds up hun. xxx

Enjoy it! For some reason I seem to totally lose my appetite when I'm pregnant, nothing sounds good anymore :( I lost three stones with ds, and I've lost 10lbs so far with this one, although every time she gets measured she jumps forward a few days as she's growing so fast! I was so looking forward to the excuse to eat lots lol, I normally love cooking and eating, but it's lost it's appeal :nope:

thank you sooo much everyone for the stories and kind words :)

I feel a lot better after reading I'm not the only one. My doctor is well aware of the weight I've gained, tells me to exercise (i am a walker), and otherwise doesn't seem too concerned. Thanks ladies :)

I just echo not to worry hun! If your dr was concerned he/she would say. I say just try to enjoy your pregnancy! With my first i was very slim with what looked like a football up my top, with my second i gained alot of weight everywhere, with this one i'm completely in between (mostly front with a little padding around the hips and bum.) Every pegnancy is different xxx

me me me..
i started off at 150 and last time i checked.. i was 180. not even gonna think of stepping on the scale after all the ice cream i ate yesterday :haha:

I'm 23w 3d and I've gained 20 pounds so far. I'm not going to worry about it. I gained 45 total with each of my other pregnancies. I just do the best I can.

If your diet and activity level isn't correlating with your weight gain I would say something to your doctor. Some women do gain more than others during pregnancy, but it's a calories in versus calories out type of thing. However, the body reacts uniquely to hormones as well. For some women it can slow their metabolism a bit and it can vary pregnancy to pregnancy as well. I would contact your doctor though to see if they have any concerns. As long as everything is normal, just eat health and exercise. There really isn't any secret to keeping the weight gain down unfortunately. I ended up at 151lbs with both of my pregnancies with DS1 and DS2 and started off at different weights. My pregnant body just seems to like that number:)

I eat enormous amounts of McDonald's, chocolate and coke and have only gained 2 pounds. Everyone is different during pregnancy

im up 28 pounds already at 14 weeks!
I was worried too, but had a visit today and doc said I look healthy and not to worry. I'm eating non stop, but keeping just about all the food healthy (i splurge now and then) and staying active

i honestly cant even figure out where the weight is. other than the bitty 'starter bump' and my boobs nothings bigger!

i'm starting to wonder how much weight im going to end up gaining, though. the OB even joked that they say the average pregnancy causes a 30 lb gain, so im definitely going to be 'above average' har har. thanks

I gained 8lbs last week!. With my pregnancy with DS I put on a tonne in the 1st tri, a bit in the 2nd but not much in 3rd tri. Hoping I'll do the same this time lol. Maybe speak to your doctor/midwife if you're worried, but it is very normal to put a fair bit on!

I'm pretty much right there with you... I've gained about 27 lbs now, at 24 weeks! I've always had a problem with weight gain, so it didn't surprise me. I haven't been eating completely healthy, but I'm not exactly living on junk food either!

I'm really hoping I can keep my weight gain to less than 40 lbs, but with 15 more weeks to go, and already just about at 30? :dohh: I know we're not suppose to "diet" per se, but I might try to cut back on the amount of sugars and carbs I seem to be consuming. I definitely don't get enough protein...
