I had my gall bladder out 3 years ago the pain of gallstones and billiary colic was extuciating. The lady in the next bed said she had three kids and one was breach. But she would rather give birth than have gallstones
this has given me hope that I can cope with the pain. has anyone else had gallstones and also given birth? What was the more painful?

I've heard that kidney stones are more painful than giving birth x

I had gallstones last pregnancy and was put in hospital on pethidine because they were so painful - didn't operate though - maybe they were small and got passed. I am not sure, but am very scared they may come back this pregnancy.

Giving birth I thought was more painful - but I would still prefer to give brith over having gallstones - why would I want that pain and all I can take home in the end (if they operate) is a jar with some stones in it? At least after labour you have a baby and somehow that makes you forget the pain. I was in natural labour for 7 hours (with an induction) before I had an epidural and it was a lot more painful than the gallstones, but I knew there was a purpose to it and that made all the difference.

I have also heard that kidney and gallstones can be more painful though. My DH wanted to know if my baby was 12cm big (whatever stage that was) then how was it that I couldn't feel it but if I had a tiny gallstone or kidneystone only mms big I would know all about it?

I had a bad time with gallstones a few weeks ago but would rather have that pain than give birth any day (obviously you get more out of labour though!). I had a pretty horrific birth tho so may be the wrong person to comment! My friend started with kidney stones they day after she gave birth to her daughter and said it was ten times worse than her labour xx

 ur post made me laugh hehehehhe, i totally agree with u, I've gallstones about 4 in quantity (were diagnosed a year back, i don't know if they are double in no's now) and pregnantn really terrified and having regular check ups with my consultant, can't eat deep fried food, try my level bestto avoid any sort of fatty food, which sometimes really sucks as i really want to eat fish n chips almost everyday, and even avoding almost everything (everything good actually) I feel this pain everyday...so keeping my fingers crossed :hugs:

Gallstones, definitely!! No doubt! I had my first gallbladder episode when I was pregnant with my DS,it was so painful. I ended up with an infection and got sepsis too and ended up in hospital for a week on a drip with IV anti biotics, was very poorly. They thought I had indigestion at first when I told them I was preg and even tried to give me gaviscon!! lol! Ended up on morphine. When I gave birth I didnt even have gas and air and firmly believe birth was easier than gallstones! At least in labour you have a break between labour pains, with gallbladder pain its constant and no matter how you move to try and ease the pain it doesnt. I have had 3 more 'attacks' since, morphine each time. I've been in pain for the last few days and have a feeling I have another attack on the way,as soon as baby is here I'm demanding to have it taken out!!

Done / had both and Gallstones are by far the worst! Had to have morphine and ketamin to keep my pain under control.. thank God the gall bladder is out now!

I've never experienced gall stones before but a few years back my back went out on me and I screwed up my hip and that was MUCH MUCH more painful then childbirth.... Well actually the pain was about as equivalent as the contraction pain during transition..... only with my back there was no breaks in between and it went on for days and days and days and days and days.

So there's definitly things more painful then labour!
(but shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't let men know that!)

I had Gall Bladder Desease And Gall Stones I had them removed and give me childbirth over the pain when your gallbladder flares up anytime

gallstones are by far worse id rather give birth then over and over instead of having my gallbladder back
