Any had stones or problems or had theirs out?

I frequently get pain between my shoulder blades, back pain and pain under right rib.

Went to dr who has arranged for an ultrasound in a few weeks but said I'm not a typical candidate for stones (not overweight, don't drink and am only 29) altho it's possible I could have them.

I'm really scared actually incase I need an operation

I've had them and had it out. You don't need to be overweight, drink or old to get them. Sometimes pregnancy can cause it (my doctor believed that is what caused mine as I never experienced pain like before pregnancy).

The op is fine, takes about an hour and is usually done via keyhole. I had to have so many tests (bloods taken, camera down throat etc) so be prepared for that.

recovery is fine too. I was up and walking minutes after arriving back to my room. I've never felt better since.

I jus ache all over and really bad pain between shoulder blades when I have a bad attack. Did you feel as tho you always had pain before you had it out?

Glad to hear recovery was quick

I had mine out a few years ago after I had Ben. It's a very standard procedure, recovery can take a little while, I was up and about an hour or 2 after but you're sore and can't lift for a while.

I had horrendous attacks, going from under my right boob round to my shoulder blades, it was the sort of pain I needed morphine to get rid of but being pregnant I couldn't!!! Worse than labour in my eyes!! Hope your scan goes well.

I find it hard to remember what it was like really. I don't recall having pain in my back, it was more in front centrally below my rib cage. I may well have had pain in my back but I don't remember. I can remember the pain came on gradually and got worse and worse then all of a sudden it would disappear.

Hope all goes well with the scan - I'd hate to have to wait to find out what it was. The last attack I had I was admitted to hospital because it was so bad. They did a scan there and then and could see I had loads of small stones (the worst apparently!) and sludge. I could of had it out the following Monday but the hospital I was wasn't the best place to get to so I went to the one in Kassel instead (much easier to get to) and had it out 2 weeks later. Was told to not eat high fat stuff so I was basically living on pasta and potatoes.

I had various blood tests and was told that the enzymes in my liver were high so they had to check to see if there were any stones in the bile duct - so camera down my throat it was and was told there was nothing so they could proceed.

I feel so bad for those who have to wait months for the operation and live in fear of eating. Hope you find out soon what it is.

I've had them and had it out, pregnancy and weight loss were the factors for me.

I went in for a "pain" on my right side tucked under my rib cage and really in there. The pain would get so intense it would have me doubled over/on the floor/wheezing. It was bad. I showed the doctor where the pain was, and he said I was pin pointing my gallbladder. :( I was terrified. So he ordered an ultrasound and they checked EVERYTHING. Nothing was found. NOTHING. So it was chocked up to be a weird pain and oddly enough it went away. I had been getting it for about year, and the "attacks" would happen 1-2x a month. But I haven't had one since Feb/March of this year.

TMI -but to be honest, I think it may have been slight constipation. It seemed to always go away after I went to the bathroom. But I had never in my life experienced that sort of pain from just needing to go to the bathroom. But that wast he only coincidence I could find.

Hopefully your ultrasound shows nothing, and your pain goes away like mine. My good friend had her gallbladder taken out, and she said it wasn't that bad of a surgery TBH. She also didn't really have to change her eating habits or lifestyle either. :hugs:

I'm not over weight and I never drank that much except maybe when i turned 19 i had my days and i eat generally healthy!

I had them before i got pregnant and it got so much worse when i was pregnant after i had the baby i waited for a few months for surgery then i had it out..

never felt better no more pain anymore.

Mara it's interesting that you say that. I deffo had gall stones, tiny ones that kept leaving the gallbladder and blocking my pancreas so I got pancreatitis loads!! I had an attack roughly once a week or more through my pregnancy and in nearly every attack I had to go to the loo, and once I had it eased the pain. I was also badly sick too. But it's interesting that doing that makes your pain stop. I'd consider a second opinion and another ultrasound.

I was 18 when I had my gallbladder out ~ they were quite shocked with me because I was slim and only 18 but actually in time they worked out it was because prior to being slim, I had lost 5 stone very quickly because of my phobia.

I was great after the surgery; I do have to take lansoprazole for stomach acid but apart from that all is good!

Can't say I have gone back to eating chocolate eclairs though...they still freak me out. I think it's because that's what I ate the first time I got the pain.

Omg! Same here I had a Montreal smoke meat sandwich when I got my first attack and I can't come to eat another sandwich like that again!

Haha I think my failing was chocolate!!! When I had the thing out first thing I did was eat a box of Thornton chocs (I'd gone the whole pregnancy being careful!) and then the pains come back!! Turns out the stones were so tiny 2 had been left in my bile duct and the choc caused another 'attack' just my luck!!!

I had mine taken out yesterday via keyhole surgery. I've suffered from attacks since a month or so after my daughter was born.
I'm not overweight and I don't drink at all, I'm also only 24 so we think mine were pregnancy related.

I've heard different experiences after having it removed but I'm just glad that I won't experience gallbladder pain again as it was absolutely awful.

I had mine taken out about 2 years ago due to pancreatitis. I've never felt such an intense pain before or since, I remember one particular night where I was literally screaming in pain and begging for my ex to call me an ambulance, I thought I was dying! He didn't by the way, what a butthead! :haha:
The only way I could ease the pain during the "attacks" was to have a hot water bottle, without a cover, filled with boiling water. I suppose the pain from the burning hot hot water bottle was a good distraction, lol.

Since having mine removed I've felt so much better, haven't had a problem with stomach acid and eat normally again. There was a period after getting it removed where certain foods made me run to the toilet, fatty foods like sausages, but now I'm generally fine and scoff as much junk as the next person, lol.
BUT one thing I will say is that since then I have always had...looser toilet..movements...I was trying to find an un-awkward way of saying that, lol, and you might find you need to go more often.

Don't worry about it too much, the surgery is a pretty straight forward one in the grand scheme of things and the recovery was pretty easy (for me), I don't even remember having a problem getting around after, and I know I was eating maltesers the day I was discharged so can't have felt too bad, lol.

I'm 5 weeks PP and currently in the hospital for what my family feels is gallbladder issues. I had chest pain that didn't quite feel like heartburn but was told while I was pregnant was acid reflux, severe vomiting, and blood tests show severely elevated liver enzymes. They did an US last night but I still haven't been told what they found.

I've just been officially told my gallbladder needs to come out.

Did they find stones in the US? Are you still in hospit?

They just said it was severely enlarged. She recommended waiting and talking to a specialist as I just had a Csection. Not sure when they'll want it out. I'm home now but trying to get in with the specialist and have to really watch what/ when I eat.
