I know these are fairly common after multiple babies, but my doctor keeps palming my right sided under rib, sharp pain as indigestion, and ok...yes i have that too, along with bloating...and errr humm wind (soz tmi lol)

I have a very low fat diet but still get these horrid pains which are worse when i move...and not constant...kinda attacks i guess.

Can i ask at my 20weeks scan tomo if they'l check my gallbladder? Are they serious? Calling anyone who suffers this kinda pain, or has had gallstones. Am not too concerned, just frustrated that my doc hasn't taken me seriously during any of my pregs. arghhhh

Thanks ladies

i was in agony everytime it started like a indegestion pain at the front then spread all into my back ended up in the hospital on morphine several times then they startd giving me pethadine on prescription which kind of helped... sometimes it would last minutes others it would last hours and hours on end it took all my energy and just generaly left me feeling crap after the pain...

ooo i dont no if they will be able to spot it then if u feel confident enough to ask i would i first started getting the pain when i was pregnant with riley he was 2 in march and had them out in may so it took along time wish i ha pushed and pushed so if u could i would deffo ask sooner the better xxx

I had gallstones too first ''attack'' was at 28 weeks into my first pregnancy in 2007 when i was told it was ligament stretching, i suffered all the way through my pregnancy many times being sick with the pain. When i delivered i was so relieved as i wouldn't get the pain again, but i did, and was told it was reflux, i went all through my second pregnancy with the agony too, and by this time the pain was getting so bad i thought that i was going to die, and where the spasms were so violent i was vomiting loads which meant my throat kept tearing and i was in a terrible state, very rarely i managed to get some relief with peppermint tea, and i an no longer stomah dill from the amount of times i took the baby's gripe water on the docs advice trying to gain some relief. I managed to get an ultrasound and they diagnosed gallstones, and i had to follow a low fat diet which still did not help.
I was given a refferal to see a surgeon, and on the day of appt i had really bad bilary collic which they told me is the body trying to eject the stones and is very much like labour pains in the back and chest as the body is working in the same way to remove the stones. I was admitted and put on morphine and 2 days later finally managed to have my gallbladder removed by lap coly, i was back from theatre at 4.30pm and signed myself out at 8pm as i felt fine and wanted to get home to my boys.
I was very nervous at first that that may not have been the problem, but now i can eat my ''trigger'' foods such as pasta and potato etc again not a problem, and feel so much better in myself.

I hope you manage to get some answers and that your pain stops soon x

Hi I did too! Was horrendous, started at 27 weeks and would immobilise me for hours at a time. Midwife said was position of baby but I knew it wasn't, pushed it at maternity clinic as I started to itch also and they did liver scan and saw gs. The pain started like indigestion and as the attack worsened I felt that I couldn't take a really deep breath if tgat makes sense. I felt clammy and. Could slightly ease the discomfort by kneeling on the sofa with my arms over the back. Any way had my son on December 1st a month early due to issues thought pains would go but not the case. Had pancreatitus nye as gallstone went into pancreas thought I was dying! Anyway had It out Feb 12th and been fine ever since x x. Pm if u have any questions hun x

Hi, my gall bladder almost ruptured during my last pregnancy. I had to have it removed at 17 weeks gestation. Baby pulled through fine and he is now 3 months old.

It was horrible pain, the Dr.'s kept dismissing it as heartburn and kept giving me all kinds of drugs to help my acid reflux. I was burping constantly, it seemed to be the only thing that relieved the pain. I knew it was my gall bladder and it wasn't diagnosed until it was too late. It was so badly infected it could of killed me and baby.

Insist they check you for it...blood work and ultrasound.

Take care and keep up posted.

Hi all, thanks for all your posts...they are really helpfull!!! I went for a private scan through babybond and the sonographer said she would have a look although she wasnt suposed to, and there they were! however, last week i spent a whole day vomiting, and had really bad trouble the other way with the worst pain ever...i was just about to go to A&E when the pain passed. strange because i didnt think you could pass them without problems, but honestly tht was the most horrendous pain. Have another apt to see my gp (who is useless!!) next week. They will refer me for an official scan! but atleat i know what it is now.

Hope you are all well ladies and thanks again.
will post when i know more

I don't want to alarm you but if It happens again go straight to a &e when I was vomiting with an attack it turned out to be pancreatitus which the consultant at the hospital said In some cases can be fatal, is get your Bloods done it was my amylase I haven't spelt that correctly but thats what will be elevated in your Bloods and liver function test x x
