I had gas and air last time and hated it. Made me feel drunk and sick. I didn't want to keep using it but they kept putting it back in my mouth and I was too out of it to really be clear I didn't want it. I had an epidural at the end due to complications and wished I could have done that at the start and avoided the gas.

Is there an alternative to gas and air? Something to help with the pain but not leave me out of control?

Mmm not really medication wise? There's diamorphine but it can have the same effect. Epi is the only thing that doesnt space you out but obviously there are cons.

You could try a TENS machine.
Also hypnobirthing.

Tens machine & water? Nice warm shower etc. It might make you feel different this time, the effects wear off so quickly you could always try it again & see?

Ps. I loved the drunk feeling, everything was hilarious to me lol

I loved my tens machine with both labours. Although I know quite a lot of people who didn't really get on with them. Worth trying though.

They can lower the gas and air so it doesn't make you feel too tripped out. I had it turned right up with my 3rd and it was the only time i really felt put of my mind ( it didn't bother me though i found it helped me go into a different place other than just focusing on the pain )
Tens machine might be helpful for you?

For me there is no alternative.. Gas and air all the way 😂

I'd go straight for the epic if you're looking for something that won't effect your mind x

3 cannisters of g&a on both children, and I used every last bit oops 😂

Water? It certainly helps, I didn't used the g and a till the end

I too would say go for the epi but ask for a mobile epi as it's a lot weaker than a regular one but you still have some feeling in your legs.
