On Friday 23rd Nov at 6.15 pm I had my first contraction. My husband had just arrived home from work. At first I thought it might have been false labour / bad braxton hicks etc... I was convinced I'd go overdue like I did with my first. But the contractions continued and so I told husband we had to go.
Husband phoned hospital who started asking TONS of questions to establish if I should go in now or not - despite me continually saying that I needed to come in. In the end we decided to just go - it was 7.05 pm by this point.
I got into the back of my husband's car and my waters broke - I was so shocked. We set off and got to the bottom of the road and the head was out... followed by the rest of baby at the next contraction. Baby was born 50 minutes after my first contraction. Husband called and ambulance and I picked the baby up but couldn't hold him properly because the cord was quite short. Luckily he was crying and moving. We wrapped him in a blanket and about 5 mins later the placenta came out which I picked up and put in a muslin cloth... didn't really know what else to do!
Husband called an ambulance who came out and took us to hospital. I had a 3rd degree tear and had to have surgery. I also had to have a blood transfusion.
So that's the story of baby George's birth - born in the back of a Ford Mondeo on a Friday night outside a pub! He weighed 8lb9 and is gorgeous. We both came home yesterday![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
