Hi, my LO has just been prescribed this and I was wondering what others do with regards to adding it to feeds?

The 'how to make up bottle' debate has been done a million times, so I'm not really after opinions on that (ta muchly!). I make up the next days bottles the night before and store them in the fridge. They then get microwaved for 20 secs to take the chill off them. This is what I have always done and it works fine for us.

My question: should I add the gaviscon when I make the bottles up, before they get heated or after they have been heated?

I wasn't told, didn't think to ask at the time and it doesn't say on the inside leaflet from the box.

Thanks!

Holly was on Gaviscon as well and I would make up the bottles with boiling water and add the gaviscon then, then cool them and pop them in the fridge. I found that if I tried to add the Gaviscon to cooled milk it wouldn't dissolve properly and left lumpy bits in the milk.

hth x

its not ment to be added until the milk is ready to be drunk. But adding it before or after microwaving i guess wouldnt really matter. I wouldnt advise you to add it the night before. It just needs a good shake x

My nephew had reflux and gaviscon was recommended but my sister was concerned about giving him medication at such a young age. She looked for alternatives and ginger tea was suggested. It worked the same as gaviscon and stopped the reflux. Just make up a cup of ginger tea and put a few table spoons into each bottle.

I do this for my eight week old son, as it also help to build their immune system. I put 150 ml of water and 30 ml of ginger tea.
