I hate this world sometimes

I just can't imagine those poor people lives, they have nowhere to get away from the missiles

The pictures online are heartbreaking, much worse than the bbc are showing

Those poor children.. Those poor parents, how scared must they be for their babies ...

How is Israel getting away with this

I don't know it's absolutely shocking!
I'm the first to admit I'm quite ignorant when it comes to politics but it seems just so one sided.
I'm not Muslim but I have a lot of Muslim friends and they seem angry that none of the neighbouring Arab States are stepping in....

People don't get involved because Israel are backed by the USA

The Palestinian government is not all innocent, they could be doing more to protect their citizens, Israel gets hit with rockets too, similar numbers I believe, but its government has sirens and shelters which they get people into, the Palestinian government very tactically tells their citizens to stay home, they plead lack of funds as to why they can't assist more (despite having very rich sympathetic counties that could help) but in reality they know their biggest weapon is the media portrayal of their dead innocent citizens, they also shoot their own weapons from very populated areas like schools and hospitals. They use a human shield. Don't get me wrong Israel isn't innocent either, both sides have a lot of blood on their hands but the media is quite biased depending where you are, everyone wants to pick a side but I see no good guy in this. It's a very sad and tragic story all around.

I suppose its easy to say that the Palestinian government should better protect itself without much thought to how? Israel's 7+ years of economic siege has made sure that people live in poverty and misery and are unable to access the most basic of facilities and people talk about sophisticated systems of alert and in-house safe places. No generous donations will build these when people have no shelter, schools or roads, as these were destroyed by previous Israeli incursions.

The human shield argument has become mute too following the attacks on UN designated safe places, which have been repeatedly made known to Israel. The indiscriminate bombing from the supposedly 'pinpoint' operations on Gaza have seen the total destruction and leveling of key infrastructure. Israel has bombed Gaza's only power plant, causing blackouts, lack of access to water facilities, and damaged pipes causing sewage to leak into towns. Then, we have the hugely disproportionate response which has caused the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians, with many more injured.

The reality is that what is happening in Gaza is a war crime.

I refuse to be pressured into believing one side is a complete victim in this, do I think Israel is in the right for what they are doing? No of course not, the whole thing is sick and barbaric, but I will absolutely not be pressured into picking a side because just like life the situation is not black and white despite what Facebook and many media outlets like to make out, I think it is utterly ridiculous how someone's religion or geographical location could predispose them to pick one side. To ardently defend one side like so many on my Facebook are is to condone the crap that side have done. This whole situation is humanity at it's worst.

I'm afraid you have already picked a side as your previous post reads like the Israeli propaganda machine we have seen spring into action which attempts to explain away human lives as collateral damage with the audacity to blame the very people it kills. Human shield? Where the fuck do 1.8million people go in a place 25 miles long and 7 miles wide?

They obviously cannot go to UN shelters as these are no longer safe, despite over 17 warnings that there are women and children sheltering there. They cannot stay in their homes as these risk being bombed. They cannot cross the border to Egypt as that has been shut and Israel controls land, sea and air. And you and others talk about human shield?

There are two sides, but one side has the most superior weaponry capabilities which it utilizes with impunity against mostly civilians.

I'm not getting into an argument you can belittle me as much as you like it doesn't make me anymore wrong and you anymore right, I have done a lot of reading around the subject from a variety of sources, it's a very complicated subject and I understand emotions run deep but I simply will not chastise one side only and victimise the other entirely when I think the whole thing is horrific, the whole thing should stop, not just Israelis. Unequal or not both sides have perpetrated awful violence, the Palestinian side has a lot of propaganda also, that is the nature of war.
