I have recently joined the GD group :winkwink: and have been checking my sugar levels a few times a day after meals and first thing in the morning. So far I have managed to keep the levels within the range I was told but I have noticed that my highest reading (although still in the range) is after breakfast. Did this happen to anyone else? and can anyone suggest ideas for breakfast that helped keep the levels down?

Normaly I have an egg, som green gev and one slice of brown bread. I have ea without milk so really not much carbs or sugar in my breakfast yet the resoult is still slightly on the high side...

Thanks xxx

Your not having a glug of orange juice or anything else?
It can only be the bread..
But as you say it is still within normal - so have your bread and eat it!
You have to have some carbs (your body has gone all night without food), and it's not going too high for baby. You don't want to start to become obscessed to the point where you are trying to get in the middle of normal all the time - normal is normal!
XxX

maybe eat the rest without the bread, then have the bread an hour later?

remember a glass of juice and send you sky high!

I was told that the reason the after breakfast readings can be the highest of the day (even though it was fo me the lowest carbs of the day) is that after an extended fasting period that your body is slightly more resistant to the insulin it is producing hence the higher readings. But if your numbers are still within range then its ok (they give us strict numbers to keep within for the sake of our lo's)
