GD: How often did they check the baby's growth?

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 31 weeks and at first my blood sugars were easily controlled. Then it seems they've gotten harder and harder to control pretty rapidly.
Diet alone wouldn't control my blood sugar levels, so I was put on glyburide. And now I'm at 35 weeks and still on glyburide and my blood still isn't controlled. Even after nearly a week of 110-190 blood sugars while on medicine my doctor still hasn't prescribed insulin.
I had an ultrasound at 33 weeks and baby was measuring great. But I won't have another growth check until I'm nearly 38 weeks.
I'm so worried because my sugars have been bad, and Im afraid by the time I get to the next growth check the baby will be too big to deliver vaginally.
So if only a few weeks ago (33 weeks along) and the baby was measuring good, would it be possible for the baby to gain weight so rapidly that he'd be too big to deliver vaginally at 38 weeks?

I go to an ultrasound and non stress test every week and also was surprised the first time when they say they only do the size measurement once a month...but they are looking at him and monitoring him in other ways so I suppose if they noticed a huge change they would just check to be sure...

I get growth scans once a month and a biophysical profile weekly. I am nervous as my bs has been high too, my next growth scan is Monday so I am hoping to find more out about his weight.

I was diagnosed at 29 weeks and am now 34 weeks and just had my growth scan. Although I thought I would be seen more often I only have a scan once a month. I actually was worried that my little girl wasn't growing enough because of the GD diet. She weighed 3lb 8oz at 29/30 weeks and at my last scan 33/34 week she weighed 5lb soooo i was definitely wrong :winkwink: But I am also worried she might get too big for a vaginal birth.

So far I have been able to control my GD with diet and exercise and have not had to do the NST yet but in your case if your numbers are high and stay high I would think that you would get scans at least bimonthly but since your little one measured so well last scan I would try not to worry about it too much (i know easier said then done). Hang in there and good luck!
