I know I'm a few days early for the 2nd trimester, but I was wondering if anyone found out the gender at 14 + 2 weeks? Is that way to early? I really want to avoid the blood test if I can because my insurance won't cover it. I don't know what kids of ultrasound they will do next week or if they will do one at all. They didn't last time, just used the heart doppler.

With both my dd I had private scans at 14 weeks and they accurately told me they would be girls ;)

At 13 weeks both of my dd's were said to be girls. the techs both times said they were 98% sure. Had a confirmation scan at 15 weeks both times and they were right!!!
BUT a lady on here was told at 15 weeks she was having a girl and then at 20 weeks she found out it's actually a boy!! So I guess you never know!!

The u/s tech guessed boy when I was 14+2, will find out in a couple weeks if it's true! I think it's easier to tell if it's a boy vs a girl, and it all depends on the technician as well. Many won't even make guesses in case they're wrong.

Thank you ladies so much, I hope hope hope that she can at least make an educated guess LOL It's been really fun trying to guess the gender using the old wives tales but now I'm like "okay, I have to know!"

I just read the post above this where she was told girl at 15 weeks and found out bub is actually a boy. So considering genitals aren't fully formed until 16 weeks id not get one until after then.

I think a lot of the time it depends on how experienced the sonographer is and the baby's position. A bit later but we was told boy at 15 plus 3 and then confirmed again at 19 week scan :)

I got my scan at 14 wks and 2 days. Gender was VERY obvious. https://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/640x/9b/90/9a/9b909a761edd08b11707df4ecd61d312.jpg

Well that definitely gives me hope XD

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had some spotting at 14w1d, and went into the ER. They did an u/s to check on baby, and all was fine but the tech had told me that it was a boy, even showed me the 'penis'. Yeah. Well. She was SO wrong. I had a girl!
So I think in some cases they can tell at that stage, but it's more accurate to wait till your closer to 20 weeks to find out. Otherwise you'll be confused like I was lol
