I'm just curious if anyone has looked into this and if it was right for them. The theory is that if the baby's heartrate is higher than 140 (some sites say 150) than the baby is a girl, but if it's lower then it's a boy.

According to that theory, we're having a little girl. If I remember correctly, it was right for my first daughter and I think my son, too.

Share your experiences :flower:

I do t know about my first 3 but with DD4 her heartbeat beat was always between 130-140 and the midwife commented how she sounded like a boy, she obviously wasn't lol.
This time the heartbeat was 135 the first two times but last time was 150 so it hasn't been very accurate with mine :)

I have heard a boy sounds like a steam train and a girl sounds like a galloping horse. My daughter sounded just like a horse! This one is too early to tell but definitely a little steam train in there.

With my second, the midwife said she was sure it's a boy based on the slow heartbeat and it was right.

I read something after a bit of googling that said the heart rate varies according to the gestation of the pregnancy but not to the gender of the baby, but who knows? I know a lot of people swear by this theory.

It was right for me! And weirdly the horse and train one was too

My 3 boys were always somewhere in the 150-160's this bub is generally between 142-146 but has been in the 140's since 18 weeks ( was 174 in the beginning ) and shes a girl, so no i don't believe it lol

Worked for me! My DD's hb was between 170-180 bpm, and DS was more between 140-150 bpm.

I just found out I'm having a girl and her heart rate started at 111 Bpm at 6 weeks. By 8 weeks it was 165 and at 12 weeks it was 155. 14 weeks was 145 and then in just sort of hovered there, just a little over 140 ^_^ at the 18 week scan it was 143.

We're having a girl and at my 16 week apt her heart rate was 130 / 146.
