Generic brand of Clomid?

Has anyone used the generic brand for Clomid? My doc just prescribed Clomid 100mg per day for days 4 - 8, so 10 of the 50 mg pills... Walmart said for the brand name it would be $150 but for the generic it will only be $18!!!!

Anyone try the generic brand? I assume it's just as good as the brand name...

The name brand spends so much time/money to research the drug that they have to price them high. After a certain number of years, generic brands are allowed to copy the ingredients and sell duplicate meds. Generics are typically the same as the name brand so I wouldn't worry about it. If your Dr. didn't think generics would be effective, he/she would've listed on the prescription that it must be name brand only. Hope this helps!

Yes, I did the generic. My doctor actually prescribed the generic. There shouldn't be any difference.

Did you try the name brand also to see if that worked?

No because my issue was more in my tubes but they didnt find that out till later so we stopped the Clomid.

Generic brands are exactly the same, just without the 'trade name' so to speak. When I was in America one year my OH needed pretty strong medication. We were advised to ask for the generic version and instead of it costing something like $250 it cost £15. They wouldn't have let him take it if it was going to f*ck him up so it's worth doing.

I used Clomid for medicated IUIs and they didn't work. It was the IVF that worked for me. However, with 100 mg of Clomid (clomiphene) I ovulated and got 1 follicle. So, it definitely made me ovulate.
