Gestational Age during ultrasound?

I had my 20 week ultrasound yesterday. We are having a girl! But after we got into the car I was looking at the pictures and in the gestational age place it said 23w4d, I was only 20w2d! The woman even asked me if my due date was still September 11 so I wouldn't think it was a typo. She did tell us she was 14 oz and everything looked great. I was wondering if they set the GA themselves or it sets according to how big the baby is? Am I going to have a huge baby?!

wow that is interesting, I'm going to be having an ultrasound on monday and Ill be 19 weeks.. Im sorry but I honestly dont know, but congrats on the girl!! I really want a girl.

Hm..that is strange! I always thought they plugged it in themselves, but maybe I'm wrong?

And O/T but you said you're due September 11? Are they giving you the option to induce early because of that?
Reason I ask is because my friend's little cousin was due on 9/11 and because of it being the day it is she was given the option to be induced at 38 weeks. She ended up not needing it, as she went into labor naturally a few days before her induction was scheduled.

They haven't asked me about it. I hope it's an option though. All I can think about is her bringing in cupcakes for her birthday at school, but everyone is going to be mourning the country instead. (And i'm sorry for this quick rant) Plus, I am so sick of ignorant people posting things on my facebook like "Oh gosh, September 11? TERRORIST BABY!" How is that in any way funny? (but then again, maybe i'm just being overly sensitive) Thank you so much for mentioning that though!

Exactly! Not to mention, God forbid you lost someone on 9/11 and then have to celebrate your child's birthday the same day!
I know they do it in New Jersey, so hopefully they do it in Virginia as well!

If they don't, it's a good thing only something like 10% of women actually go into labor on their due date!

I didn't even notice her due date being the day it was.
Maybe cause its a different date format over here?!
I would hope they give you that option, it could be a little awkward having to explain it to her when she's older.
And as for the comments about her being a "Terrorist Baby", just ignore them hun. They're just trying to get to you.

Mine says the gestational age is how many weeks and days I was at the time at the scan I'm sure.

just ignore them..

i got them too at first cause i'm calling my little girl maddie.. i dunno if you know about it.. but there was a little girl called madeleine mccan, who went missing on holiday in portugal, and hasn't been found.. but yeah people we're like oh better not take her on holiday to portugal!!

it's not funny, it's just sick.. and they're stupid!

Your baby's measuring a little big by the scans but at your stage they won't be too worried which is probably why it was never mentioned, if you are concerned speak to your midwife chick. xx

well when i got my last one it said 12w4d when i was only 12w and measuring 12w.
but it wass because they based GA on LMP at first until the scan was done.

so unless you had reaalllyy long clycles...i dont know!?

Thankfully my due date had been changed but at one scan the Dr said I was due on October 31st...Halloween. I had people say so you're going to have a little demon baby.

Im sure it means your 20weeks, but your baby is measuring bigger. At my 20 week scan i was 20+1 but measuring 19+4 not a big difference but we knew my dates were correct as i had an early dating scan.

Also doesnt mean your going to have a huge baby. Some slow down, some catch up and sometimes the measurements arent all that accurate.

Gosh, I'm glad everyone that lives around here isn't smart enough to watch the news because i'm naming her Madilyn and calling her Madi :/ Poor baby just can't get a break! lol Hopefully, she'll be born September 10 or September 12!
