So gutted!!

When I was pregnant with Isabelle I was diagnosed with it really quite late and controlled it as best as I could (even the diabetes nurse agreed I was doing well) my main issue was breakfast... Numbers always seemed to be slightly raised :(. I was induced at 37 weeks despite my growth scans all being normal etc.
Induction failed I had all the contractions but nothing progressed and I was discharged and left to go 10 days over due where I was then so petrified I opted for a c section .

This time round I have been so good with my eating from the get go as I really wanted to try and keep it at bay.... I had a GD test at 16 weeks which I passed and then another one yesterday morning which I failed (but only just) and was contacted this morning and told a diabetes nurse will be in touch.

I'm so desperate for a natural birth this time round as my recovery from my c- section was awful as I caught an infection... And they've assured me they won't induce me again because I had such a bad time last time with Isabelle

I feel like such a let down .

I'm sorry. This is my first pregnancy. I was just diagnosed with GD two weeks ago. I am actually sitting in docs office right now waiting to meet with the dietician for a follow up to make sure I am doing ok. My numbers have been good. I was really not happy as I already have high blood pressure that I always have. Just runs in my family so not I'm double high risk. Do they usually try to take GD babies early? All of this has me nervous. I am just doing the best I can.

I'm on my third GD pregnancy, started on insulin at 11 weeks.

I hope you can get a birth plan in place that you feel happy with xxxx you are most definitely NOT a failure xx

I failed my one hour test, took the 3 hour yesterday and am anxiously waiting to see what the results are. This is my first pregnancy.

I am struggling feeling like I've done something wrong too. Which stresses me out and makes me want to eat bad things.

The more I read and hear from other people though, there are things you can do to reduce your risk but ultimately some women are just going to develop it anyway, even if you are eating well and exercising. So try not to feel guilty or anything. There is probably nothing you could do to prevent it.

According to the doctor and nurse it isn't really something we can prevent. Some people get it. They showed me a graph and what your body needs insulin wise through out pregnancy and how it triples by the time you deliver. Some people just can't keep up with the insulin to keep blood glucose levels steady. I had no issues before pregnancy and even half way through. When I did my three hour test I was fine with fasting levels and within a week they put me insulin because my liver couldn't keep up with what was needed. I'm ok at the moment during the day with my food and hope to stay that way but it may change over time. They said as long as we control it then it should be ok. I sure hope so. I'm doing my best.

Thankyou xxx

With my last pregnancy I failed the test dismally but this time round they said the cut off was a reading of 7.7 and I got 7.8 so only just failed I keep telling myself that to make myself feel better!

I went shopping last night with my mum and sister.... Who I must say do my nut in and are so unsympathetic and supportive :(when I was looking for suitable foods again they started saying how over the top I was being! And comparing it to my sister going on a diet! Not the same!

Off to nandos for dinner tonight..... Which could be tricky! I've heard that the chicken is fine because of the protien... But sides could be the downfall x

My consultant said this to me a few weeks ago... I was so happy I passed the 16 week test and feeling really good... For him to say its doesn't matter how hard I try I will more than likely get it.... Thanks for he encouragement :dohh:. I felt like crap after that and went straight out and got a bottle of dr pepper and a chocolate bar on the way home as I felt so disheartened :( x

I'm pretty amused that mine came up positive, I don't eat bread or pasta and haven't touched pop since I was going to the clubs in my twenties. I eat pretty paleo, lots of veg & clean protein and have a low healthy BMI. No diabetes in my family and have barely gained anything with this baby (my first) and yet I tested positive on both tests! I work out at least 4 x / week...I have to chalk it up to hormones making me really sensitive to sugar, Even not pregnant I've always felt like I'm going to have a heart attack when I eat sweets like ice cream or my fav desert creme brûlée so I avoid sweets normally anyways.

Don't be too hard on yourselves. No one is going to make me have an induction unless this baby grows out of control (and having gained 10 lbs at 28 weeks I doubt it'll be an issue). Do try to avoid sugar & be kind to your bodies, they're performing miracles for you right now but I wouldn't stress over this. And certainly don't let any mw or OB bully you into an induction unless they have excellent reasons to do so!

Exactly, you're going to get it if you're going to get it, I'm not thin but I'm not huge either and I am careful about what I eat, I've not had it with my other 2 full term pregnancies but I have it this time...I know they say age can play a pretty big role especially if you're over 30, plus I'm Hispanic and my dad has it  I have 2 friends who are quite thin and eat very healthy that had it as well, the common factor between them was they were both over 30.

If you haven't already, you should check out lily Nichols and her book Real Food for Gestational Diabetes. Seems right up your alley. I just finished it and really agree with her approach

I am really not to happy about having this. I thought at first it would be ok. I was eating pretty healthy before I found out but every once and awhile would indulge in something. I was still doing slot of protien and fruits and veggies. Spot of stuff I need to eat now. I never had cravings this entire pregnancy. I have only gained about 10 pds so far. Besides my belly I don't look a whole lot different. Now that I found out and have to watch everything I want to eat everything. I don't but it seems like everything that I shouldn't eat looks so good. It's interesting how that happens. It's like being on a real diet I guess. I have 10 weeks to go and I will do it for the baby but it is already getting old. I can't believe I had no cravings but now that I can't eat things I want it all.
