been at the antenatal clinic today at the hospital for three hours.
bit of history, in september i got pneumonia while on holiday in alcudia and was admitted to hospital, due to the steroids i had to have i had to have insulin to control my blood sugars and when i stopped the steroids my blood sugers returned to normal.. untill now.
i still had a blood moniter and when i was feeling rubbish i thought i would test and my blood was 12. instead of the under 7 it should be.
this landed me an appointment at the gestational diabetic clinic. i have been today, omg i must have been in every room.
i saw the diabetoc consultant first who said because i had had treatment before i have one week to try and control with diet or i have to go on medication and if that doesnt work then insulin.
then diabetic nurse who gave me a blood monitor of my very own and a diary telling me i have to prick my finger 6 times a day before and after a meal.
then dietician who explained about low sugar and low fat and carbs.
the the obstetic doctor who booked me for a glucose tolerance test, and to see the aneathatist to discuss my last section to see what will work for the next one.
then midwife then checked vitals and my blood pressure was sky high. she tried 5 times and highest was 135/105 lowest was 130/97 so still high, doctor wasnt impressed i have to go back in a week to him too to see if i need medication for that.
then onto blood tests. long term glucose. another full blood count because i look pale and electrolytes.
great big huge long appointment that i have to do all again next week then fortnightly for the whole pregnancy.
i just want to cry, i have never had any of this with my other pregnancies,
on the plus side urine was clear and i heard the babies heartbeat nice and strong.
