I've just got my BFP and had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy. For those ladies who have had another child after GD in another pregnancy how early do they test in a subsequent pregnancy? I was tested at around 27 weeks last time, but suspect it might be earlier this time round.

I'm almost certain to have GD in this pregnancy as well, my LO is only 4.5 months old and I know the risks of it recurring are higher with pregnancies that are close together (we had to get busy as I'm a bit on the old side at 42).

I think they should test you at about 16 weeks (if I remember what the midwife told me!)

And I'd just like to congratulate you on your bfp!!! Happy & Healthy 9 months to you! xxxx

i had GD with the twins and was tested at the standard 28 weeks.
this time they gave me the GTT at 18 weeks and passed and will probably test me again around 28 weeks.

Wow not true at all they should test you ASAP! I had it with my son 2 years ago and they tested me this time at 6 weeks and i had it already!! You should have them test you soon, bc the sooner you know the sooner you can manage it, it is REALLY scary to have it in the early stages of pregnancies, i constantly worry! Im only 10 weeks and everytime i have a spike i cry, its so scary, they say it can cause deformities! Still not a super high chance i read, but it worries me so bad! Please ask them to test you early! If its negative they should still test you again later on!! Good luck hun and if you do have it i'd love to have a buddy to talk to, its really hard getting it this early on =(

I didn't have it with my first baby, but I'm 9 wks and just failed my 1hr and 3hr. So I'm in the same boat as you, and would love a buddy. I'm super depressed about it all. I'd love to chat though, I'm new at this whole bnb thing, so bare with me lol.

My letter from consultant says that I should start monitoring my sugars as soon as conception is confirmed in future pregnancies :flower:
